I consider myself among the fortunate. I was able to retire with a pension and subsidized union health care that covers both my wife and me. John Edwards is on the ballot in Ohio and I selected him over others. Because I will unlikely fall into destitution is no reason to neglect those who are already there. Being an atheist it amazes me to hear those claiming to be Christians belittling or denying those less fortunate. If anybody making less than $40,000.00/year can say our country is better off now than it was 7 years ago. I would think they are on drugs. The Democrats were given the majority in both houses of congress to get us OUT OF IRAQ!. Nada. They have been as ineffective as any congress in the history of our country. The Democrats are continually out maneuvered and out gunned in congress. Pelosi and Reid are failures as leaders. My wish, and you might as well go for the gusto, is to change both houses of congress completely with Democratic super majoritys.

I agree with skulzfontaine. They are trying to break up a blood feud. With toppling Saddam, they let loose a hatred smoldering for a thousand+ years. This time they had weapons and technology. Blood feuds end when they get tired of killing each other or there is one left standing. Or a truce until they replenish their killers. Why we Americans insist on be-littling other nations because “they aren’t as good as us.” As in
“if you aren’t with us, you are against us,” or, “Old Europe.” We are trying to be like Saddam by controling the Shi’a to the detriment of Sunni, just the opposite of Saddam. The Iraqi government has/is telling Bush to kiss their collective asses, but in a nice way to keep the corruption money flowing. How much a month? It could provide health care for a lot of people for a long time. Ease worries of Medicare and Social Security. And if it stopped, save a lot of American lives.
