As we head into Labor Day weekend, candidates’ campaigns, along with their political ads, are beginning to transform from a marathon to a sprint. Thus far the public has mainly seen issue advertisements from outside groups looking to influence the elections indirectly by harping on issues like the stimulus and health care reform. Now, candidates are beginning to spend more to sell their bios and attack their opponents.
Here’s Rep. Joe Sestak’s (D-Pa.) first shot at his Pennsylvania Senate rival, former Rep. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), and Toomey’s connections to Wall Street:
And here’s a completely unrelated salvo — which earns extra points for its derivative, Warhol-esque style — directed at Florida’s independent Senate candidate Gov. Charlie Crist, who’s been the subject of an increasing number of attacks from both the left and the right since declaring his third party bid:
