The Senate passed an extension of unemployment benefits through November last night; now the House has just done the same. Next stop: President Obama’s desk.

The endless unemployment extensions are hard to justify when I am scraping by having to do whatever it takes to pay my bills. As a “self-employed” / “freelancer” / “independent consultant” for the same company for 5 years I lost my income when the company went bankrupt. . I've cut down everything to the bone and beyond. Sold off personal property. Taken work way below my level, almost entry level. Moved downward in housing. But the “no-work pay” for others keeps getting extended and extended and extended supported by Federal Tax dollars. It leaves a bad taste. Either widen benefits to include the rest of us who did not work on staff or let us all stew in the same thin soup. Maybe more families hung out over the hairy, ragged edge will develop some political will. There is a difference between state and federal unemployment benefits. Federal unemployment benefits extend state unemployment benefits out to 26 weeks. They must be explicitly passed by Congress. They're paid for out of our federal tax dollars we all pay. A law firm should start a class action suit for “us” who have paid taxes but don't qualify for benefits including the 1 year worth of cobra subsidies.

Thats is great for you all now how about woken on extending benefits past 99 weeks for us that have lost everything and I mean everything. I have been with out any money since March with no hope insight. My kids are way under weight and what little scrapes we can get goes right to them. I have been looking for work day in and day out even tried for a job to shovel crap at the zoo for a few dollars just to give my kids something to eat. Still nothing not even a simple return call or a thanks but no thanks email. How sad when no one in the world can even give a simple reply. I am at my end and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. My poor kids did not ask for this life and all they ask for is just something to eat. It kills me to tell them we have no food and on top of that we don't even have any soap to clean our self. Woken hard all your life to lose a job that was not any fault of our doing just is not fair. Wish I had a pack of crackers to give to my kids for dinner tonight. I am sure our elected officials don't give a rats ass about the well being of us they go home eat wonderful meals and get cleaned day in an day out with out a care in the world. And they all take it for granted. What to do what to do I have no clue. Next step for us to to look at the possibility of putting our kids up for adoption just so they can have food and a roof over there heads. I don't know but I don't want to see them suffer like I am anymore. It is killen me. Wish you all much success and hope that things get better for you soon.
