For 2.1 Million Unemployed, Benefits Extension Will Have to Wait Until Tuesday
Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 12:56 pm
Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) just indicated that the Senate might take up the unemployment benefits extension on Tuesday. The federally extended benefits, covered in detail here, lapsed at the end of May — leaving approximately 300,000 families per week, living in states with unemployment rates over 8 percent, without checks. The bill will retroactively approve benefits, and re-up funds until the end of November.

How about getting this done on Friday this week. Seriously why can't this be done. Fill Bryd's seat now, there are enough unemployed people that could fill in for the vote. Who in #$@* are we waiting for anyway and why can't this guy take the job today?????

you answered your own question….gov. Manchin of west virginia must fill sen. Byrds seat before they will vote again on the bill..no use voting when you know you dont have the votes…and according to reports Manchin has told Reid that he will fill that seat this by this weekend…the only option we have is to do what I did and sent Gov. Manchin an e-mail asking him to appoint the seat sooner….probably does no good but then again neither does coming to sites like this and complaining to people who agree with you right?…if every one who came to sites like this complaining would also write to congress….perhaps it would help..probably not but, it certainly does more than just griping here and doing nothing else

Copy and paste your resume to the end of this petition. Let Washington know that we are not lazy, we’ve always worked, and we want to go back to working!http://www.change.org/petitions/view/americans_for_a_working_america

I just don't understand why Gov Manchin can't get that replacement for Sen Byrd in place by tomorrow, knowing that people are losing their houses, apartments, are running out of gas and food, with each passing day. WHERE IS THE SENSE OF URGENCY???

They don't give a F***; it should be obvious by now; do you think any of them give a flying fuck about us? I'm getting sick and tired of seeing people post on various sites and blogs that they will remember this in Nov. Do you think the politicians give a shit? I don't think so- they are all rich, lawyers and have pentions anyway we are the slaves now unfortunately it's as simple as that…

because it's more productive than sitting on my behind and spewing forth negativity – i would be surely guaranteed to have no action – however by taking this action, perhaps, and mind you i realize it's a small perhaps, but perhaps i will see action –
and no – i don't think they realize who it is that is out of work – middle class people with 20-30 years of work experience under their belts – they think we are all minimum wage start up workers, that's why they keep saying there are jobs out there – jobs that will not hire me because i'm now considered overqualifed -

How many times are they going to keep delaying it notice the”they may” so its not guaranteed this is ridiculous. People are suffering and they walking like turtles to get a fix on the situation this country is going to the toilet. People voice your opinions strongly and hold your head we have to be strong if they dont give a damn we have to look out for each other.

The lack of urgency is dumbfounding… not to mention frustrating. Do these people realize we need to put food on the table and gas in our tanks, in order to exist and keep searching for employment??

I am very confused about tier IV. Previously the cutoff was 8.5 % three month average UI rate, now I have been reading some indications this is going to be 8.0 %. Has anything changed in the new bill ? HELP US !!!!!!!

I guess that I'll just have to go out and knock over the nearest liquor store.
