Video: ‘Climategate’ Author Rehashes Old GOP Arguments to Discredit Global Warming
Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 5:02 pm
Yesterday at the Heritage Foundation, Brian Sussman, author of the new book “Climategate,” laid out the reasons Americans shouldn’t believe the hype on global warming and should fear the consequences of climate legislation.
Some of his arguments sounded familiar. Take, for instance, his point that dinosaurs got by just fine in an carbon dioxide-rich environment. It’s the same argument that Marc Morano, spokesman for climate change skeptic-in-chief Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), made last February and that Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) made last March. He also echoed Tea Party rhetoric in claiming that legislation to regulate carbon emissions would cause us to “lose liberty” and help Nancy Pelosi further her United Nations-driven agenda.

Check out what big oil company funds The Heritage Foundation. And The American Enterprise Institute. And Americans for Tax Reform. And Cato. And Americans for Tax Reform… et cetera.
Say, Exxon?

Anyone in that room that believes the bilge that Sussman is spewing is too far gone for logic and reason to have any effect.

Deliberately uninformed science denial is what passes for conservative intellectualism these days.

If a carbon tax is theft, then any tax is theft. If you believe that, you need to leave civilization behind and go back to hunting and gathering.
Besides, I assume you're referring to cap and trade, and you know what's really funny? Cap and trade was a conservative idea — yes, right out of the conservative think tanks — to have a free-market alternative to a tax for reducing emissions of acid rain pollutants. Now that liberals admit a conservative idea worked and we're willing to apply it to greenhouse gases, you decide to deliberately misconstrue it. I think you actually know better, but just don't want to admit there's no tax involved. Well screw that: if conservatives won't support their own idea, why should I? I say let's have a straightforward carbon tax. We're going to be accused of that anyway.

For the right-wing grousers out there…….
Everyone knew, I mean EVERYONE knew that taxes were going to be the big concern after the Bush fiasco. They used misinformation, subterfuge and outright lies (looking for Bin Laden, WMD's, etc.) to rape the American taxpayer to fund two wars (one of them a TOTAL sham) with their military-industrial complex. Four thousand lives lost for what?
Fast-forward to the present, Sherman, and look at the mess we call infrastructure. No spending for those eight years, left it crumbling. Now we HAVE to pay for it. Don't whine about anything the Obama administration HAS to do, because your Representatives caused it. It's a big lift, and the money has to come from somewhere. It is the reality.
Carbon tax is only the start. If you don't like it, shouldn't have supported an administration that made it, and any other tax a necessity.
For you baggers…….
Just STFU, because you have NO idea how to go forward. You want to slam things in reverse? how you going to do that without destroying the engine and transmission? Or are you going to do as Sharon Angle says, and just shoot anyone who doesn't agree with you? There hasn't been one, not ONE idea put forth, except your nonsense idea of what this country should be like. Hate to tell you, but those days are long gone, and good riddance.
Anything that will get us closer to getting off of dependence on big oil is a step in the right direction. The Gulf disaster is the biggest example. Or do you want to put your foot in your mouth like Joe Barton did, and apologise to them, too?

They know it, but won't admit to anything the Dems embrace. Hypocrisy at it's best. That's what happens when one only watches and gets their information exclusively from sites that they agree with.
Dick (head) Armey and $arah Palin WANT that. “don't watch the lame-stream media”, We're “fair and balanced”. Read about that somewhere………………….Oh, Yeah……Nazi Germany. Ever wonder why Glenn “Bebe Homme Pleurant” Beck has a Nazi fixation? Or why Bill O'Reilly wants to just “toss out the Constitution?”
Keeps them stupid. Like the poster you replied to above.
Idiots.
