The 9.12 Project — or 9mm Project?

For a civic group that bristles at charges of generating even the most suggestive air of violence, the 9.12 Project sure likes its handguns. Around the country, 9.12 Project members routinely prove that they take seriously their leader Glenn Beck’s Three-G triad of “God, Gold and Guns.” They meet at shooting ranges and offer member discounts on pistol training courses.

And, as evidenced by an email (after the jump) recently sent out by a Tampa 9.12 Project organizer, they also hold family raffles where the prize is a handgun and a box of 9 millimeter shells. (Second prize is a copy of “Opus Americana,” the trailer for which exemplifies the Tea Party’s amusing love for overly dramatic string arrangements.)

Don’t own a Springfield Armory model 1911-A1? Here’s your chance, plus fun for the whole patriotic family:

Dear Tampa 912 Member, Please join us at the Alfano Conference and Banquet Center on Tuesday, June 29th at 6:30 pm for a meet & greet and 7pm for the General Member Meeting.

LAST CHANCE TO BUY RAFFLE TICKETS FROM FAMILY FIREARMS!!!

7:00 Will Weatherford, State Representative in District 61 will discuss the re-districting constitutional amendments that will be on the ballot in November.

8:00 – FAMILY FIREARMS RAFFLE -SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1911-A1 and a box of 9mm’s from Lime Valley Ammo -2nd Prize is a beautifully bounded Opus Americana Book

Oh man.

There are people who take that closet Nazi seriously?

Can't be any more serious than Sharon Angle's call for violence (I don't see ANY way to excuse this) if she doesn't win in November. This is traitorous talk. Our election process can be usurped (yes, this is how the word is used) and Americans can be killed if the people of her state don't elect her?
For all their talk about how they “care” about this country, and how they “want” smaller government, They have no solutions. Just threats against the very people they want to “win” over.
For as large as the deficit is, how bad the economy is, the recession left behind like a pile of dogpoo by the Bush administration, I can tell all this:

The baggers are something this country cannot afford.

She's just saying,,,there are a lot of people who take the second amendment very seriously…you wouldn't want them to get angry.

But seriously, we're Americans. We think we can fight our way out of anything. Sometimes you just have to put the sword away. Some people just don't get that.

For folk who say they want to protect the Constitution, they are fully willing to say (in veiled terms) they don't respect it at all.

After a year and a half of silly innuendo and patently false accusations, as someone who fought for this country, I'm deeply offended by what I'm seeing and hearing from the baggers.
This nonsense coming from Sharon Angle (I used to live in No. Nevada), who used to BE a Democrat, is inexcusable. She's calling for, in no uncertain terms, the killing of fellow Americans, if you don't happen to like the way they voted.

You're right about putting the sword away, but with the vile rhetoric being thrown around as of late, do you think it's possible? I wonder.

I feel there are two main problems. First, misinformation. People are so blind they can't see that you have to take everything your read and hear with a grain of salt. Especially what you learn in school. You must look at the motivation, the bias. Second, there seems to be a great rift forming between the extreme ends of the spectrum; i.e progressives and “baggers”. Each feels like the other is going to destroy the nation. Our two party system sets up a dichotomy where you are either with us or against us. No one cares to talk about the finer points, no one cares to reach a true compromise, where each side loses something, but still gains something as well.

I agree with your assessment.

I have become ascerbic about this because of all the misrepresentation and falsehoods the right has been slinging around for the past year and a half. I was pretty low-key before it all.
The baggers (you don't have to quote, that term comes from one of them) talk like they need to return something to where it never left in the first place. I fought for this country in two wars and it's insulting to hear and see things from people who don't seem to care about the very same thing I dodged bullets for……The American people. They say they do, but when put to, they show an utter lack of regard for those they claim to be pretecting.
Bias has become the watchword of the decade, I think.
I'll be glad when all this is over, and we can go back to the business of making this country what it once was…….The best in the world.

Jobs in NY have been decimated on all levels and there are no foreigners rushing to our aid. Now the state gov't is cutting gov't jobs and school funding. If they cut into the social programseven deeper soon we will have nothing left and we will truly be like Mexico or China. The over all job creation by foreign companies is fractional in comparison to job loss. it leaves a bad taste in my mouth even having foreign companies in our country where they create a few lower paying jobs with lousy benefits, and knowing all the real profits go to dictators who will make people work for nothing to take over our businesses and buy up our real estate. It is Treason we are really dealing with and no one wants to face up to it or deal with it!
