Spencer has been tirelessly blogging for the Streak about the Bush administration’s possible plans for permanent military bases in Iraq. Now Rep. Henry A. Waxman’s (D-Calif.) oversight committee is asking questions. Waxman wrote a letter to the president today, urging the White House to declassify information “about your intentions for the bases.”

Ryan Crocker, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and David Petraeus’s trusty sidekick during Congressional hearings, said in a press briefing June 5th that it’s “flatly untrue” that the U.S. is building bases in Iraq. Surely then declassifying information shouldn’t be a problem.
