Initial Unemployment Claims Fall Again, Remain High

This morning, the Labor Department released an incrementally improved report on initial jobless claims. The number of Americans filing fell for the third straight week to 444,000, down from 451,000 the week before.

Calculated Risk posts the graph that makes it clear why this is not exactly a cause for celebration: Unemployment claims remain very high, and the drop in claims has stalled out. For the general employment picture to improve, that number needs to start falling.

Are you for real with this. Someone needs to pull there head out of their butt and wake up. There is hundreds of thousands that ran out of there unemployment benefits and thousands everyday. Sure the numbers will come down and our wonderful government can brag about it as if some big deal happened and for all the Americans whom lost and will lose are not counted in the numbers any more. The sad truth to all this is if they really did look at the entire picture unemployment would be well over 20%. I support Tier V so lets get someone, anyone to talk about it. Remember it was not by our choice and through no fault of our own all our jobs were taken from us. I want to work so bad it hurts but there is nothing out there. My unemployment ran out 7 weeks ago and still nothing going on how sad is that. Al our poor kids are the ones that will suffer the most. Poor things go to bed hungry at night and there is nothing I can do about it. But I am sure our government official's are not hungry just look at them almost 70% of them are fat and over weight. Go figure!

GDP is a function of money creation. Jobs, however, can only be created by real economic capital. Companies have lots of imaginary assets on their sheets, but they sure as hell aren't going to hire someone based on imaginary productive capacity or imaginary ability to pay them.

The “recovery” is a Noble Lie. Simple as that.

we need to do what the people of Greece are doing and start a uprising. their government is not helping them just like ours is not helping us.it's time to take action like the people of Greece and take our country back. It's going to happen here it's getting closer every day our government don't help the people that's ran out of unemployment and the ones about to. A crisis is brewing in this country and soon if we get no help you will see civil unrest or worse in the good old u.s.a .Mr. president do you want the blood of the people who put you in office on your hands? If you and your government don't help us soon you may just see it. wake up and help your people now before it's to late.
