Guess what, everybody? There’s no need to hold tonight’s debate, because the McCain campaign informs us that the GOP presidential nominee already won! You cannot make this stuff up. From The Fix:
Although the fate of tonight’s presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it — if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning.
“McCain Wins Debate!” declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: “McCain won the debate– hands down.”
This just in — McCain has graciously agreed to resume his campaign and appear at the debate tonight, just for good measure.

The McCain campaign has also been sponsoring these fake poll ads. They appear to have a radio-button poll on them, but no matter how you answer you are taken to the McCain for President site (and probably counted as an interested supporter).
