‘Guardians of the Free Republics’ Threaten Governors
Friday, April 02, 2010 at 10:35 am
Stories like these, whenever they surface, are bad news for mainstream conservatives trying to use this energy in a less insane manner.
A group that calls itself the Guardians of the free Republics wants to “restore America” by peacefully dismantling parts of the government, according to its Web site.
As of Wednesday, more than 30 governors had received letters saying if they don’t leave office within three days they will be removed, according to an internal intelligence note by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. The note was obtained by The Associated Press.
According to the Guardians’ website, they want to achieve their goals “BEHIND THE SCENES, lawfully, peacefully, without violence and without risking civil war.” But state governments aren’t chancing it.

Why is this bad news for conservatives if these clowns are sending the letters to Republican governors?
Comment posted April 2, 2010 @ 3:14 pm
Because they are the conservative fringe, and this sort of attitude is getting more popular, or at least more prominent, on the right:
The FBI associated the letter with “sovereign citizens,” most of whom believe they are free from all duties of a U.S. citizen, like paying taxes or needing a government license to drive. A small number of these people are armed and resort to violence, according to the intelligence report.

If it's any consolation, this might remind republican donors that rerouting their money to tea party groups is far more wasteful than bankrolling the occasional strip club outing.
Dollar for dollar, you're better off giving to groups whose agenda doesn't include handing “grand jury presentments” to elected officials to challenge the legitimacy of the president or income tax or government in general.

How is it these bozos claim they love America when they can't tolerate what America is all about?
To call them conservatives is a lie, they are fascists, pure and simple.

There's no evidence they're a 'conservative' group but that doesn't stop you from wanting to believe it.

There's no evidence they're a 'conservative' group
Sure there is. Their website.
The one common belief that ties the American population together is faith in the Constitution. Many Americans are willing to fight and die in its defense even as they blindly trade notes of debt issued by a foreign bank. We decided that restoring, in principle, the Constitutional institutions through December 19, 1860 was the approach MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED (and that's the bottom line, failure being unacceptable). We rejected restoration to 1933, the Articles of Confederation or ancient times as being insufficient (1933) or unworkable, at least in terms of achieving our goals rather than proclaiming our patriot knowledge of history. Of course we recognize that the Constitution was the method for imposing on the States the obligations rejected by the colonies to pay the Revolutionary War debts to the Bank of England. Notwithstanding, we can relieve the suffering of the sovereign People by agreeing with those who choose to glorify a man-made document.
And finally, we constructed “The unanimous Declaration of the sovereign People of the united States of America to restore and reinhabit the free American Republics” to be a shining covenant with the Creator. His charging the People with dominion over all the earth in the Book of Genesis is declared in the very first paragraph as the foundation for the restoration. In so doing, the Declaration is established in history as a genuine covenant with the Creator in honor of the Law.
I think it is you “wanting to believe” things despite the evidence.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, December 19, 1860 is the day before South Carolina seceded, starting the Civil War. The restoration these people have in mind includes the restoration of slavery.

Welpers . . .
The Bammster seems pretty conservative as well–given the way we're still in Iraq, ramping it way up in Afghanistan, and now the talk about gittin' sumpin done in Iran. I thought that was all taboo and too costly when the other party of powerticians were in office. But now–it's all okay?
A pox on both parties. They both share the blame.

I cannot find out much about this. Does anybody out there in cyber world know anything? This smells fishy to me. With the Fascist republicans going down the tubes, would they resort to something like this to gain sympathy or to lead authorities on a wild goose chase to detract from the militias' and the Tea Party Crazies/

Sure, sounds like mainstream conservative thought. Now run along and go play with your Obama blow-up doll.

And what did I write that you objected to?
Because they are the conservative fringe,
I said fringe, not mainstream. I know intellectual honesty is not a conservative value, but you shouldn't make it so obvious.

Sounds like they are threatening about 30 governors. Telling them they have 3 days to leave office or they will be removed- doesn't go along with their end of term so it isn't a “vote you out” threat. It is telling them to resign within three days. As if somehow that would stop the Lt. Gov from moving up. Lock up the threat makers!

The entire Tea Party/sovereign citizen/nativist/Dominionist movement is right-wing.

Interesting, that you take a quote advocating that the Constitution return to its pre-1860 status (which reinstates slavery and disenfranchises women and blacks) and claim that it is “mainstream conservatism.”

I noticed that too. Nice people. I wonder if they beat their wives in public unless they appear wearing poke bonnets, eyes downcast, and hands folded neatly on their child-swollen bellies?

Seriously, Obama a conservative?? What is wrong with you people… Obama is the most pro-abortion, liberal, borderline or full socialist president the American people have ever had the misfortune of leading this country. I would encourage you all to take a couple of anti-liberalism mental illness pills and compare what this country was founded on, what made it great, and where the current administration is taking it… There is absolutely nothing American about the current state of affiars.

You are so wrong! President Obama would prefer abortions not happen but he doesn't think it is the governments place to get in the way of them. He would rather take steps to prevent them from being wanted or needed.
He is actually just a bit left of center. Most presidents since Truman have wanted to institute health care for all- even Nixon. This president is just the first to accomplish health care reform that many have tried. What an accomplishment!
He has put more money for kids to go to college, more money to our military and veterans, especially their care- and is trying to get this country towards energy independence through the clean and green energy as well as cleaner traditional energy sources. If you think otherwise you are buying into the hype and lies and not really paying attention.

Um, the most “liberal, borderline or full socialist president” would be Franklin Roosevelt. Obama is nowhere near as liberal as FDR, which you would know if you actually had taken a history course somewhere other than Texas.
