Breitbart Bets Rep. John Lewis $10,000 That No One Hurled the ‘N-Word’ at Him
Friday, March 26, 2010 at 9:41 am
My story today focuses on the pushback from conservatives who have issued apologies for some far-out behavior by a few activists last weekend. Andrew Breitbart goes further than anyone I quoted. Breitbart, like Gary Bauer, accuses Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.), Andre Carson (D-Ind.) and Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) of lying about the attacks against them after trying to provoke “a YouTube incident” by walking through the crowd.
It’s time for the allegedly pristine character of Rep. John Lewis to put up or shut up. Therefore, I am offering $10,000 of my own money to provide hard evidence that the N- word was hurled at him not 15 times, as his colleague reported, but just once. Surely one of those two cameras wielded by members of his entourage will prove his point.
And surely if those cameras did not capture such abhorrence, then someone from the mainstream media — those who printed and broadcast his assertions without any reasonable questioning or investigation — must themselves surely have it on camera. Of course we already know they don’t. If they did, you’d have seen it by now.
THOUSANDS OF TIMES.
Rep. Lewis, if you can’t do that, I’ll give him a backup plan: a lie detector test. If you provide verifiable video evidence showing that a single racist epithet was hurled as you walked among the tea partiers, or you pass a simple lie detector test, I will provide a $10K check to the United Negro College Fund.
Thanks to the cell phone videos of the event, I think “the myth of the March 20 slurs” will become an accepted fact inside the Tea Parties.

Before Congressman Lewis considers taking up Mr. Breitbart on this bet, he should first check to see if Mr. Breitbart has paid up on earlier wagers he has lost. [1]

…and Lewis has exactly what? to prove to Breitbart?
I'll give Breitbart $10,000 if he can prove to me he has stopped beating his wife. Or was that his boyfriend?

Per the article, Congressman Lewis' entourage had cameras with them. Presumably, the cameras also had microphones to provide sound coverage. In this youtube world, surely someone out there recorded the alleged slurs.

Did someone die and leave Breitbart in charge of the universe? No one has to provide proof of anything to Breitbart. Maybe he'd like a doctored video to post like he did with scam artist O'Keefe. Breitbart, in his own mind thinks he's really, really important.

It's amazing that this comes from the same crew who was convinced that the librul media was covering up the true size of their million man march… a march whose size was fairly easy to estimate at around 100,000 thanks to webcams capturing it in its entirety.

And hopefully the audio portion hasn't been “edited.”

You know, as much as Breitbart talks about others, he just can't stop, at least subconsciously it sounds, talking about himself. For this guy to try to pull some “put up the video or shut up” is just chutzpah at an astounding level.

Breitbart is scum. I hate calling people names like that, but there's just no getting around it this time.
Democrats aren't like the gop, in particular cantor who told a whopper about receiving threats and the so called bullet in his window.
I've had friends who have been in D.C. when the teabaggers were out there and they have told me how these people behave when someone who doesn't dress like them comes anywhere near them. They shout at the people and try to intimidate them.
Comment posted March 26, 2010 @ 7:00 pm
We have an abundance of Teabaggers here in northeast Tayuxus, and it is not hard to fathom many of them using the N-word in discussing black citizens–and that's not even when they're riled up and adrenaline is pumping, as it no doubt was for the D.C. Teabaggers as their last stand against more equitable health care for all crumbled around their feet. I had one citizen in my office recently decrying the decline of America due to desegregation, who referred a number of times to our ni**er president. But I don't have video or audio of the event, so by Breitbart's standards, it never happened.
Comment posted March 26, 2010 @ 7:02 pm
Why not? In Breitbart's world, there's nothing wrong with using heavily edited videos.
Comment posted March 27, 2010 @ 6:46 am
Was Breitbart there?
If not, I'd have to take Rep's Lewis, Carson and Cleaver on this one. After seing him on Dylan Ratigan's show, trying to get cred out of MSNBC, he's as oily as folk say he is.
Andy, better fork over the cash.

It's about time the Democrats got a little “pushback”. Whenever a Democrat/progressive/liberal disagrees with anyone he or she will resort to personal attacks. Just look at the comments posted here about Andrew Breitbart. Could there have been racial slurs? Possibly, probably. Does that mean that everyone in the GOP is racist? Ridiculous! Most are hard-working middle-class tax paying American citizen that disagree with a Congress and an Administration that refuses to listen to us. They have and agenda that is not in the best interest of of our country, our Constitution, and our American way of life. In an attempt to deflect attention from the fact that the Congress had passed into law a bill that the majority of Americans opposed, some reps. tried to reduce those in the opposition to nothing but a bunch of thugs and racists. Why? Because more legislation is on the way that is even more heinous than what we have seen as the president seeks to reconstruct our nation. Amnesty and Cap and Trade will be the next assaults on our economy. So, as the sensitive left protests the name calling of some ignorant radicals, I ask did you also speak up when books were published calling for the assassination of George Bush?

Most of your crap is easily ignored bulls*it, but I'm gonna have to insist links to back this up. They'd better be something better than from <World Nut Daily or some other organ of wingnut lying propaganda. In addition, please state whether the book(s) was/were published in the U.S., and readily available. If these books you're going about turned out to be from some dinky-assed no-name publisher, I'm calling BS. Either that, or you need to access responsibility for supporting The Turner Diaries [1], since you haven't denounced the book here.
By the way, you 'hard-working Republicans' had your politicians in charge of all three branches of the U.S. government – including both houses of Congress – for 6 years (2001-2007), and in charge of Congress and the Supreme Court since 1995. So the government did listen to you over all those years, and screwed up things so badly we may never get things fixed. Thanks for that, and all the dead and crippled casualties of unnecessary war, a**hole.

I am now interested in learning more about this guy, bc obviously he drives the left crazier, if that is possible. The comments show the liberals lack of any common sense or deep understanding. Just ask them questions and they either refuse to answer, give a smart aleck answer, or call a name. The best is righteous indignation. Liberals project onto Conservatives what they are capable of, not what we stand for. They do not understand what Conservatism, values, principles, morals, or common sense mean. Did you hear Pelosi quoting the Constitution? Initially I was repulsed by her attempt to use the Constitution against us, then it amused me that she talked about the Pursuit of Happiness, and then smilingly said, and we will ensure you get it. Really…isn't that contrary to the Constitution. Liberals want us all to be Louisannians, so dependent on the government we don't have the sense to come out of the rain. Not me, not now, not ever. You low lifes think you are getting my money to sit around and criticize what is wrong with America, think again. Some liberal whack, a female (I think, it is hard to tell the difference with liberals), said that Conservatives were from Venus, and they were from planet earth. I thought, Oke…..give us Venus, as long as she isn't on it, I will go and be with people who are sensible, independent, self-sufficient, free-thinking and who don't need the government to manage their lives, But….once we go….liberals have to promise they don't follow us when they destroy planet earth. None of you are allowed to come, nor would you be welcomed. Oh…what a world. Yes.

Death of a President http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_a_President http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0853096/ This was English made, but where is the outrage of the left when our president's death was proffered? In contrast, the media has gone wild on the occassions that President Obama speech patterns have been observed and comment is made. Okay, so I've done enough of your research for you. And I don't really care what a bunch of sheep think. The word Progressive is the thing that makes me laugh. Do you really believe that taking away all choice from “we the People…” and placing it in the hands of the government is the right way to go? What has the government done that is efficient and cost effective? Paying for the care of the young and the elderly is one thing, but when able-bodied adults are sitting around all day, and generations of children have never seen their parent go to work. Where is the incentive for this next generation? The government has usurped the family and they need to get out. We need to take control of our own lives and make our own choices. That is what made America great before and will again. This administration is taking more and more away from us. And, with every wonderful “free” advantage we receive from Big Brother, there will be less money in our pay checks to make our own choices of how we want to live our lives. Wake up! Oh, and by the way, both parties in both houses of the U. S. Congress voted in favor of the Iraq War. It was only after the war became unpopular that they wanted a “Mulligan”. Maybe you need to learn some facts, but then, name calling is a characteristic of a progressive mind. As far as the Republicans having control of both houses and doing nothing. I agree. They did nothing but argue with each other based on ideology. Most politicians are demagogues that are in power for their own self promotion. Don't you think it's time we think for ourselves instead of blindly following whether it makes sense or not. Surely, throwing huge piles of money at problems, bribing congressmen and unions, taking over banks, and private industry and subsiding community organizers lifestyles is not the solution to improving what is wrong in America. .

The BBC film was roundly criticized at the time, as about thirty seconds' research on the Internet showed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_a_President. The Baker novel was creamed by the critics and is currently #307,295 on the Amazon.com bestsellers list: http://www.amazon.com/Checkpoint-Novel-Nicholso….
NEITHER of these works had the slightest cultural impact, neither was endorsed by a liberal blogger, and both were denounced as tasteless and crass at the time they were released (the New York Times called Checkpoint “a scummy little book.”). Your assertion that these are evidence of some huge and unmarked liberal call for the assassination of President Bush is false.
Disgusting.
