Congressman Pushes Unsourced Rumors of Dems Trading Votes for Jobs; Accused Dems Push Back
Friday, March 19, 2010 at 4:59 pm
On March 17, Connie Hair of Human Events shared an unsourced rumor with her readers:
Most interesting rumor from the Hill yesterday: Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.) who announced his retirement from Congress has been promised the job of NASA administrator in exchange for his vote, and Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), another retiring Democrat, has been promised an appointment as U.S. Ambassador to NATO in exchange for his vote.
It will be interesting to note any job announcements from this Tennessee duo post-House retirement.
Interesting, indeed! No sources, but that didn’t prevent the rumor from reaching all the way to Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s (R-Utah) notes for a speech on the House floor.
The accused congressmen say, respectively, that they’re “shocked” at this “affront.” When pushed, Chaffetz refused the name his source.

Would you happen to have “reporter” Connie Hair's phone number? I would prefer taking my complaints about media rumors and lies to the source of those slimy public pronouncements. Phoning the targets of such sleazy campaigns would just make a bad situation worse. You don't want that.. do you??

Upset at Jason Chaffetz's outrageous spreading of lies and rumors, then his refusal to either back up his statements, or provide names of sources?
Tell Congressman Chaffetz to stop being untruthful! Here is how you can reach him:
Washington DC-
phone: 202-225-7751…….fax: 202-225-5629
Utah-

If you use Twitter, you may also follow Congressman Chaffetz, and tell him to stop bearing false witness:

Congressman Chaffetz also has a YouTube channel:

Unfortunately, comments appear to have been disabled for his videos. It would appear that the Congressman insists on being heard, but is not interested in listening.
Congressman Chaffetz, do you really think that is what our Founding Fathers had in mind?

I'm assuming, then, that no federal positions will be forthcoming to them after their retirement?

Could be true – it could also be true that you are wanted in three states for multiple homicides and littering. Say, you wouldn't have any problem if I just went ahead and stated that as truth, would you?
Regarding the Congressman and his colleagues – if having a position of authority, and the responsibility that comes with it, matters at all – and it clearly does with these folks (e.g., they set the freakin' Federal budget every year) – then they should be able to back up what they say, rather than just pulling convenient politically motivated claims out of their a**es.
And on that business about the Congressmen in question possibly getting jobs in government after retirement – sadly, there's actually a fair chance of that happening. It's the 'revolving door' among various government agencies, and includes the lobbyist community, and it is as vibrant as ever, unfortunately. But if he expects to be taken seriously by responsible citizens – and I dunno, maybe he doesn't care about such a thing – Congressman Chaffetz still needs to put up some actual evidence for the existence of a quid pro quo, or shut up.
As for Connie Hair, she is just one media scumbag in a crowded field of media scumbags, and her scumbaggery – as well as that of Fox “News”, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and other turd launchers – is protected under the Bill of Rights. The ironies abound…
