So the insult stands, apparently:

In the face of sharp American disapproval of an Israeli plan for an East Jerusalem building project, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly rejected Monday any curbs on new Jewish settlements in and around Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, demonstrating the firm commitment to diplomacy that has become the Netanyahu government’s trademark, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman refused to attend a Knesset address by the Brazilian president because of a perceived slight.

What I read is Lula pointedly refused to visit Herzl's grave, which at least is as clumsy and ugly a gesture as Danny Ayalon's snub of the Turkish ambassador. Is that inaccurate? How do you think the Turks would react if Lieberman snubbed Ataturk's grave? Would you chide the Turks and not the Israelis in that situation?

The U.S. government has an apparently limitless ability to be told to go #$%& themselves while handing out billions to the insulting party.

Previously the status of Jerusalem was regarded as the subject of “final status”
negotiations.

Obama's push to freeze Israeli building in Jerusalem is a major concession to the Palestinians, who are attempting to extract as many diplomatic gains as possible from Israel without even agreeing to negotiate directly.
