Rand Paul Rallies Support for Jim Bunning

U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul is holding a 3 p.m. rally in Lexington, Ky. to support Sen. Jim Bunning’s (R-Ky.) block on extending unemployment and health insurance.

“Jim Bunning is being unfairly attacked for saying we should spend money already set aside for benefits rather than borrowing more,” says Paul in a press release. “He deserves our support and he is going to get it.”

I called the campaign of Paul’s rival, Trey Grayson, and will update when I find out what, if anything, he is doing in reaction to Bunning.

Grayson will probably claim he had a petition drive! That seems to be what most lazy establishment candidates do.

I think Bunning deserves scorn and ridicule for what he's doing, certainly not our support.

It's a good thing they don't have unemployed people in Kentucky. They might get the impression Bunning and Paul are elitist douchebags.

All the Liberal blogs says the Tea Party supports Senator Bunning (which they do). But consider this:

$780 billion for TARP to help banks when they foreclose on mortgages and raise interest rates.

Stimulus Bill (now projected to be $821 billion) for waste and fraud (much going to jobs in foreign countries).

$180 billion to AIG (who wants $10 billion more) to pay domestic AND foreign banks 100% on the dollar for risky credit-default-swaps.

Hundreds of billions more to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to back government guaranteed loans to the banks.

…yet the Tea Party wants to hail Bunning as a hero for blocking as measly $10 billion to help the unemployed? What are you thinking? Using the down-trodden as the scapegoat for the liberal's wasteful spending???

I would guess that 60% of the unemployed are either Republican, conservative, or a Tea Party member. I don't see how punishing them would help the cause. Even if a small percentage of those collecting unemployment benefits were “lazy”, how can that possibly compare to “cash-for-clunkers”, cash-for-caulkers”, cap-and-trade, Obama-care, TARP, Stimulus Package, Omnibus Bill, or the national debt?

As a conservative with alliance to the Tea Party, I believe that attacking the unemployed only hurts the TPP's cause. Bunning could have used any other spending bill to make his case, but he picked the smallest one (and targeting the weakest people) to make his point.

Bunning is on his way out, and could care less about the Tea Party or the Progressives running our government…he is a cranky and senile old guy that the Tea Party does NOT want.

On my blog, I question Fox News' attacks on the unemployed as well.
