Matt Lewis has the latest editionof the presidential straw poll to be distributed later this week to paying attendees of the annual CPAC conference. In presidential years, candidates often buy tickets for supporters in order to help them win these polls. Not coincidentally, the 2007, 2008, and 2009winner of the CPAC poll was Mitt Romney.
New to the poll this year: Gov. Haley Barbour (R-Miss.), Gov. Mitch Daniels (R-Ind.), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), and Rick Santorum.
People who appeared on last year’s ballot but have been cut this year: Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.), Gov. Charlie Crist (R-Fla.), and — for obvious reasons — Gov. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.).
