In Victory for Right, Supreme Court Strikes Down Campaign Finance Regulations
Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:43 am
The Supreme Court has issued a 5-4 decision in the case of Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, which effectively unspools three decades of campaign finance legislation. It overturns the regulation of corporate spending on elections and removes limits on independent expenditures for candidates.
Read the entire decision after the jump.

Where will this lead us? With everyone having the ability to open their wallets legally will this get rid of a lot of the Slush money?

The politicians should be made to wear the logos of the corporations and organizations that gave them huge political contributions (legal bribes), just like the NASCAR drivers. That way the public would know who these politicians are really beholden to. This Bush Supreme Court decision corrupts the elective system even more than it has been. The corporatists now have this country in a strangle-hold and it's all down hill from here.

I guess politicians just weren't getting bribed nearly enough. Now maybe the SCOTUS can just get rid of any pretense of democracy and declare corporations (and the wealthy) the only citizens deserving of rights. (Just don't call it judicial activism; they're conservatives, ya know…)
Bring back the poll tax and debtors prisons!1!

I guess Ol' Keith Olbermann was right…..”A nation of the Corporation, by the Corporation, for the Corporation”.
So much for the People.

I'm sure the Repubs will be celebrating…..just until they are victimized by the very same thing they celebrate!
This goes beyond partisan politics, now. It's US against them, the People against corporate interests. This country is in DEEP trouble.
