Democrats Blame Bush for TSA System Failure

Reid Wilson has Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) — respectively the chairman of the DCCC and one of the punchiest House freshmen — knocking the Bush administration and the GOP for the near-miss Christmas terror attack. Massa’s attack on former Vice President Dick Cheney is particularly rough (and true):

I would remind the American public that the apparent leaders of the al Qaeda cell in Yemen were 2 terrorists who were released by Vice President Cheney in secret. I think there’s a level of accountability that has to be levied personally on the vice president. He is personally responsible for that.

Blaming Cheney is great for headlines, but it remains to be seen if the substantive critique will get through.

Was it Cheney's decision to release “the apparent leaders of the al Qaeda cell in Yemen”?

That's what the chairman of the DCCC alleges: do you have info to rebut the charge?
Blame game? Bring it.

TSA moved with commendable speed after the Christmas incident. For the new airport security rules, look here:

Really, who compared the treatment of Detainee # 603, Mohammed Al Quahtani, to Nazis, Communists and Pol Pot, who pressed for the release of many of these
detainees because they were' innocent shepherds' who litigated for their repatriation, who tried to disbar one official for the point of reminding the corporate
clients of said firms, what their blood money was buying, from Saudi and Kuwaiti and Emirati interests

It's Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) who alleges that, not DCCC Chairman Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.).

I don't have a rebuttal to the allegation. I'm just wondering where Massa got his information from.

I'll ask a rhetorical question – when will the Dems stop whining about whatever Bush did or didn't do and accept the responsibility that the people of the US entrusted them with? Obviously never.

In a Daily Kos Diary today, Congressman Eric Massa asks, “Where was Dick Cheney when the two alleged masterminds of the Christmas attack were freed from Guantanamo Bay on November 9th, 2007?”

(instead of saying the release was Cheney's decision)

Maybe the release was Cheney's decision, but there doesn't seem to be public evidence of that.
