‘Extended Surge’ Brigade Will Go to Afghanistan for Its Fourth Combat Tour Since 2003

The Defense Department announced just now that the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division will deploy to Afghanistan in support of the Obama administration’s “extended surge” by summer 2010. As our chart of every Army brigade’s combat deployment experience shows, this will be the brigade’s fourth combat tour since March 2003.
