Max Blumenthal analyzes the post-Senate record of the potential dark horse 2012 Republican presidential hopeful, noting (accurately) that Santorum’s sinecure at the Ethics and Public Policy Center — his Program to Protect America’s Freedom — has given Santorum some chances to comment on foreign policy, but little else. That’s been enough to broaden his image beyond what it was when The New York Times first looked at him as a possible presidential candidate, back in 2005 — that of a social issues extremist. In other words, he’s remained credible with the sort of Republican voters who like Sarah Palin while rehabbing his image with the national media.

If by “rehabbing his image with the national media,” you mean not making gay baiting references to bestiality (what the hell is it with conservatives and sex with animals? Seriously?), than I guess you have a point.
