Getting into Wednesday’s Washington, D.C., premiere of “Tea Party: The Documentary Film” meant walking through a steady rain into the Ronald Reagan building, a sprawling downtown trade and convention center where the economic conservative group FreedomWorks, which helped organize a number of Tea Party protests, had rented a foyer and a sizable auditorium. The stars of the film relaxed and talked with former House Majority Leader and FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey and Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) handed out business cards to a steady stream of well-wishers. All of the guests made their way into the auditorium on the FreedomWorks version of a red carpet — a strip of green astroturf.

“We’re goofing on Hollywood,” said FreedomWorks president Matt Kibbe, dressed in evening wear alongside his wife Terry. “It was [producer] Luke Livingston’s idea.”

[GOP1]The award show trappings were the only tongue-in-cheek part of the evening. “Tea Party: The Documentary Film” is, according to its stars and filmmakers, an attempt to celebrate — and correct — the history of what Armey called a movement to “fulfill the destiny of this land.” Livingston said he and his volunteers paid for the movie, “maxing out our credit cards,” for a total of around $500,000. Two more members of Congress, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), joined the proceedings to pay tribute to the activists who organized the 9/12 “taxpayer march on Washington,” which drew an estimated 60,000 people to the Capitol to protest the Democrats’ economic agenda. In remarks before the start of the film, Blackburn made a spirited pitch for Tea Partiers to come down to Nashville for February’s national Tea Party Convention.

“When you come to Tennessee,” said Blackburn, “they’ll be sure in telling you — like my husband likes to say — when it comes to taxes, if 10 percent is good enough for God on Sunday, it’s good enough for the government on Monday.”

Price, the sponsor of a resolution paying tribute to the 9/12 march, credited Tea Party activists with giving Republicans “the courage to do what we need to do.” After his short remarks, he asked more than a dozen activists to join him onstage to accept framed copies of the resolution, which has been sponsored by 148 members of the Republican conference but has not come up for a vote.

“It’s not like you haven’t seen one of these before,” Price said, passing off a copy to Armey, “but I don’t think you’ve seen one that truly recognizes freedom and liberty.”

For the activists, makers, and stars of the movie, it was all a bit overwhelming. The movie hadn’t been finished, said director Pritchett Cotten, until three days before the premiere. He and a small group of volunteers spent a month of 17-hour days editing the film with Apple’s Final Cut Pro software, stopping only for Thanksgiving. The finished product elicited many moments of spontaneous applause from the audience, as well as some tears, and a final standing ovation.

“Tea Party: The Documentary Film” is part tribute, part “official” history, and part human interest story. Cotten, who cut his teeth on commercials and corporate training films, has the most success with the human drama.

“I didn’t want to make a policy movie,” said Cotten.

Focusing on six people who participated in the 9/12 march at various levels, the film presents them — and, by extension, all Tea Partiers — as average Americans less concerned with partisanship or economics than with a government that, according to all six of the subjects, “doesn’t listen.”

In the film’s telling, the movement began with anger at President George W. Bush. His voice, announcing the September 2008 Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 with warnings of what will happen “if the free market is allowed to work,” is the first sound viewers hear at the start of the movie. Price, the member of Congress featured most often in the film, later argues that Tea Party anger goes back to the March 2008 collapse of BearStearns, and the government’s corresponding rescue package.

From there, the Tea Party movement is portrayed as a natural next step in America’s history of peaceful rebellion against the government. William, a minister and Revolutionary War re-enactor, explains how the movement is in step with the original Boston Tea Party. (The film’s footage depicting colonial America was filmed at Colonial Williamsburg, Va., according to one note in the credits.) Painstakingly, Cotten and his stars make the case against charges of “racism” in the movement, relying on William’s membership in a mostly African-American church and through the testimony of Nate, an African-American activist who is deeply apologetic about his 2008 vote for the Obama-Biden ticket.

“You have to understand how that played with the psyche of a black man or a black woman,” Nate says, “to see the highest seat of power, and it’s held by a black man.” The film shows Nate making the case to black men in Detroit that “black people we never really had a political voice.” He also admits that he stands out in the mostly-white Tea Party crowds of which he’s been a part. There is a “voice in my head,” he says, that tells him one day he’ll be less alone.

The race issue surfaces a few more times in “Tea Party,” most jarringly when a group of doctors, participating in the Sept. 10, 2009 mass lobbying effort in Congress, engage Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) in a back-and-forth about health care reform. “It went well until he pulled the race card,” says Dr. Robert Shessell , another one of the film’s subjects, “and said the only reason they did it was to embarrass the first black president.” All of this, argue the filmmakers, is the height of irony. The music played during the march itself, titled “It’s Time to Party,” puts the march into a rich and multi-racial context: “in the spirit of Martin, of Gandhi, of Jesus.”

Another goal of the film is to challenge 10 months of media coverage while subtly deciding who does and does not speak for the movement. The role of FreedomWorks in helping to organize the 9/12 march is fully covered, down to a scene where Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots takes notes and talks on a conference call led by FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe. The closest the film gets to a suspense scene is a real-time account of a bomb threat against FreedomWorks, which occurs while Martin is in the office. “We’re going to come out twice as strong tomorrow,” Kibbe says to cheers from other activists. Notably less present in the movie — although there are images from some of its events — is Americans for Prosperity, the rival group which, unlike FreedomWorks , supported the Troubled Asset Relief Program to bail out Wall Street firms. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), an avid early endorser of the Tea Parties, does not appear in the film at all. But Livingston said he scrambled to include a shot of a sign reading “Thank You Glenn Beck,” hoping to grab the attention of the talk radio and Fox News star. That moment drew some of the screening’s loudest, rowdiest cheers.

The film, like Price’s resolution, also pushes forward the idea that turnout for the 9/12 march was larger than the media reported. Time lapse footage shows the 9/12 crowd at its maximum size. “The park service said this was the largest event that D.C. has ever had,” argues Jack, one of the organizers that Cotten’s camera followed to Washington. That isn’t true, but the controversial statement is followed quickly by emotional footage of Jack visiting the Vietnam War Memorial with other activists, eyes wet with tears. The film ends with a slow-motion shot of the flags at the World War II memorial. “I need you to stand up for our freedom!” says one of the rally’s African-American speakers. “Patriots! Stand up! Stand up! Stand up! Stand up!”

Inside the Reagan building, there was just as much enthusiasm, and just as much disinterest, with how the media was covering the movement. Armey joked from the stage about “liberal interlopers” in the room who could stick around and learn something. As he introduced Wilson, DeMint used the uproar over Wilson’s “you lie” outburst during President Obama’s joint speech to Congress in September to teach a lesson.

“When I heard this ‘you lie’ comment, the president turned and looked at me and I said ‘Oh no, they think it’s me,’” said DeMint. “The next day when I found it was Joe, I said ‘Oh no, he’s dead meat, they’re gonna get him.’ And a couple days later, I was saying — after he raised a few million dollars off of it — I was saying, ‘why didn’t I say that?” The lesson, he said, was to provide some “passion and anger.”

“The only reason we don’t have national health care right now,” said DeMint to the audience, “is you.”

These people need professional help, and I say that as someone who opposed BHO. The fact that they're going about proving they aren't racists they wrong way is just the start; when someone calls you a name based on their opinion (like “racist”) the last thing you want to do is repeat their charge over and over. Instead, you show how they lie about facts. The “partiers” aren't smart enough to do that.

The “partiers” also aren't smart enough to show how their opponents are wrong about other things. Instead of going to meetings and “cross-examining” the other side, they just threw tantrums like little children or engaged in cheap stunts.

But, wait, there's more.

At the same time as his group was incompetently fighting the stimulus, Dick Armey did lobbying for two companies regarding the stimulus. Does anyone think his lobbying reduced the stimulus?

And, Dick Armey is a strong supporter of massive immigration and an apologist for illegal immigration. That reduces the power that the “partiers” have and increases their taxes.

See my extensive tea parties coverage for much, much more.

It's disgusting to watch Republicans continue to celebrate their hijacking of a movement created by libertarians and their re-making of it into just another GOP con game.

What many fail to understand, the anger of the American people is growing, the power of the Federal Government is growing, the power of the unions is growing and there is going to be one hell of an explosion coming that will shake the foundatin of this counrty all the way back to the original Constitution. Laugh, make fun and continue to ignore the freight train bearing down on you. It doesn't matter beacause now it is about the American people. They will be in the streets in the coming year.

Unless you were there…quoting 60,000 at the 912 march is very much an error…don't be afraid of the numbers…reporting should be honest…thanks

60,000 at the rally? No wonder we are in so much trouble nobody can count. I was there and it was the larget crowd I ever saw. Penn Ave was full of marchers from Freedom plaza to the Capital and it went on for hours. They had to start the march hours early because of the crowds. I think many are still in denial. Amazing reporters cant seem to get any facts right anymore.

Maybe just maybe the Libertarians woke up the conservatives and the independents. You should be proud instead of complaining. Do I have to be a full fledged libertarian to want the constitution followed?

Hello 24AheadDotCom

I am deeply appreciative to you and other liberals for coming to this site, as it certainly enhances our credibility.

I looked at your site. I have to admit that your “extensive tea parties coverage” didn't much interest me personally since most of it was just opinion, to which you are certainly entitled. It's a free country.

Perhaps you could talk about the quality provisions in the Senate Health Care bill, as that is relevant to average Americans.

It's funny how widespread disgust over the Wall Street bailout (supported by President Bush and both parties including my Senators, Isakson and Chambliss) was turned into an anti Obama rally.

This is what's wrong with the tea party movement, you've made it about Obama instead of the real culprit, corporate power. It's all about the money, campaign money. McCain and Obama raised hundreds of millions of dollars in their battle for the presidency. Corporations (including Wall Street firms) paid for most of it.

We need to remove the influence of corporate money from our elections.

I'm sure they won't blame obama when we finally get bankrupted by our health care system and insurers (check out the aetna story about plans to dump 300k to600k beneficiaries AND jack up their rates due to lower profit projections)

somebody should tell brian912 that the DC fire dept said it was 70,000 or so-
why they need to inflate it to a million I don't know
having been involved in lefty protests in the past no one is ever happy with the numbers the police or other authorities put out- but to inflate it to 1-2 million is just insulting.
I know street protest is new to this part of the right wing movement but they should be happy they got that many. They are not the first ones to protest in DC and won't be the last. Just cause you're noobs doesn't mean the effort isn't appreciated. I enjoyed all the people tooling around in their rascals decked out like minutemen carrying signs about ideologies none of them know anything about. “oh we're not racists, we just like the confederate battle flag”
“Nazism and Socialism are the same thing-glenn beck said so!”
“get the government off my medicare!” very entertaining!…

I was at this event and feel the need to correct you on this:

Livingston said he scrambled to include a shot of a sign reading “Thank You Glenn Beck,” hoping to grab the attention of the talk radio and Fox News star. That moment drew some of the screening’s loudest, rowdiest cheers.

As I recall during that particular clip there was only a smattering of applause, some of the lowest of the night. The real cheers came during the doctors speech to Rep. John Conyers. Those cheers were deafening.

Unfortunately, the tea party movement has been hijacked by politicians and talking heads like Hannity who've “tacked themselves on” to the movement that Ron Paul started. They were the very ones who did everything they could to marginalize and silence him, and are now taking credit for the tea parties. The frustration with govt. was growing long before BHO took office.

how are the unions getting stronger? Lower density, a destroyed industrial base, no card check (as promised)-in what ways are they stronger? As a union member, I don't think this is true. I think people are angry, and they should be but loud pronouncements about big government and unions is really lame since no one can cite all the freedoms they've lost and powers gained by these entities.
I don't think you people would like the country if we turned back the clock to 1880 (before progressivism, like Beck wants) or 1787 like you people want. I rever the constitution as well but I've actually read it, I'm not sure you people have. It wasn't meant to be a fixed document.

One of the reasons that Detroit is almost no more is because the unions and management could not work together. When I went to work at GM there were people there who simply could not be fired. It was a political as Washington and that was back in the 70's. I know the unions, I worked for them and they actually pulled the strings to get me hired. Not all problems belong to Unions, but manufacturing is gone in America and now they want to take over the largest employer in the nation – Government – and the people of America will simply not allow it. There will be civil war in this nation before the union thugs start welding the power over government leaders.
It was an embarrassment to the Obama administration, and they had to pull back, when the State of CA decided that it was going bankrupt and needed to lay off some government (union) employees. The union head cried foul and there was a phone call from CA government to the White House. Guess who the White House had on the line? The Union head! What the hell is that? The White House told the CA officials to desist in cutting the jobs or they would get NO Economic Stimulus. That is Union Blackmail and Obama is right in the union’s hip pocket. There was such an outcry that the White House showed no backbone and backed down. Too bad because not enough people realized what they really are about, but the Camel’s nose was under the tent.
The American people are starting to turn negative on the Unions. When they start interfering with out Government, take money out of peoples checks who don't even agree with their political views, and contribute 92 million dollars in the last election to get Obama elected – the American people start noticing and just know this: We dammed well are noticing and we are fighting damn mad. No manufacturing jobs? No kidding. I wonder why they have moved overseas? I wonder why GE (Government Electric) is getting ready in the next 24 to 36 months to move its electrical diesel plant to China. Isn't Immelt the big advisor to Obama? Guess what! Lost union jobs! Go ask Obama what the hell is going on but you’re your hands off our government or there will be blood in the streets. The political class is the fastest growing class in America. They don’t create anything, everything they receive is from the sweat of people like you and me who have to work. They vote against the working man, though you probably don’t understand. Theyu protect their own. For example 92% of the political class things the Federal Government is just fine and could even grow bigger. No kidding! That means more wonderful benefits and good jobs that ½ of the American people must work to provide the taxes for. As you will know, only ½ working Americans pay taxes, the other ½ don’t pay a dime of income tax. So as the government grows, and grows, fewer and fewer younger poople must support the giant on their backs, and now that we are dumping trillion of debt upon them and putting our children and greandchildren in the pooer house and making them beggers at the world’s door, how are they going to pay that back if we have another 23,000 agencies being created from Health Care alone, not counting the madness coming at us in Global Temperature Change (It used to be called Global Warming until the temp stopped going up about 10 years ago and the Sun Spot activity has been in a predictable cool cycle that scientist are well aware of. How would they have explained the Great Lakes Ice melting? Hmm, it must have been a lot of animals farting back then. Today we smell a lot of bull shit but it isn’t from bulls) The Global Treaty is about money, not about climate. It is about Europe wanting you and I and our children to give up 2% of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States every year to give to 3rd World Countries. Hell with that, let Europe give their own money. After all, we paid for the military umbrella to keep them safe since World War II so they and Japan could build back their industrial base. Now we have crap for industry, our cities look like 3rd world countries – been to Detroit lately?- and Japan has gleaming new cities and industry. Germany isn’t doing so bad at our largess either. Why do we still have all those troops in Germany protecting them? Because we are a cash cow and they scream and stomp their feet if we even talk about closing a base because who will support all those surrounding cities if the American Government is dumping money into those bases every day? They would! Even though they hate that we are there; have no respect for us now that they don’t feel threatened by their neighbors, they hate more that our greenbacks will leave – even though they aren’t what they used to be.
We are long suffering people, but there is a hard-wall limit that Washington, D.C. will know they hit it; and at the speed they are fling by the seat of their pants, there is going to be one hell of a splat come November 2010 and 2012.
As far as the Constitution, most of what is done in Washington, D.C. today is unconstitutional, but there will be an accounting of that someday, as well. We have been asleep, but no more.

The DC Fire Department Did not say it was 60 or 70k. In fact, if you went to their web page, you would have found a statement that what ABC put out was in error but no news organization would print it because they DIDN'T WANT TO get the truth out. They are spin masters – not truth givers. Also, the information in the retraction was even wrong. People were meeting at Freedom Park, they posted Lafayette Park N. of he White House. After I sent out a number of emails complaining, they changed to Freedom Park.

Lastly the person was new on the job who was attributed to remark, which he said was taken out of context and was not a number of people at the event.

I spoke to the Capital Police. This was one of the most major events in D.C. History and they were totally not expecting it. It will be much bigger next year and we will bring our own cameras and invite fair and balanced camera operators, as well as C-Span who did a very good job. You can see their 21/2 hour program of the event – the last 1/2, at their site in the Archive section.

the unions are taking over the largest employer “government”-what does that mean? Unions are weaker than they have been in decades. Unions aren't perfect, but they are frequently the only protection against the selfish ruling classes that own this country and most of it's wealth.
btw, the founding fathers didn't know about socialism, it didn't exist as a political ideology in any real sense (capitalism was only in it's infancy at the time) karl marx's communist manifesto wasn't written until 1848-”utopian socialists” existed during this time but not as a movement with an ideology at the time of the revolution (many were christians)
handing out constitutions is not the same as reading and understanding it-and stating that most of what happens in DC is unconstitutional based on NO examples is dishonest.
I think if conservatives want to rebuild, they ought to ditch beck (closet Bircher), Limbaugh (self aggrandizing opportunist) and Palin (dimwit opportunist) and look for the next william F buckley or Barry Goldwater
I wish you luck, if you're patient enough the weaknesses of the dems (pandering to the RIGHT wing of the party) will hand you a default victory. I know you tea party folks see yourselves as an extension of us all but you LOST the last elections, handily. Where were you folks during the BUsh administration?

Thank you for the reply. Maybe we can each come to a better understanding. The unions have a place, but they cannot force themselves between the people and their government or they will be turned on and turned out. They will lose all good will when they use intimidation and threats on the common man and woman who are interested in government and it’s out of control behavior with no genuine care or appreciation of the people who elect them to office. Too many people go to Washington and think they are entitled to tell the rest of us how to life. I am reminded of the turncoat Spector the defector who was a Democrat until he couldn’t get his way; then a Republican until he realized he wasn’t wanted any longer, and now a Democrat again because he just doesn’t get it – he isn’t loved and wanted any longer. He is not the leadership any of us want but we may be stuck with him because he servers someone’s purpose to get an agenda passed so they will put money, contacts and power at his disposal. Too bad, huh? We all lose in that deal.
Regarding your comment about Socialism and our founding fathers; they were extremely well educated on all governments up until their time. What we have today is only because of their great sagacity and commitment to studying the forms and functions of governments, especially the failures before. While in Paris Thomas Jefferson sent hundreds of crated books back for Alexander Hamilton to read, all on the history of the world’s governments, which have been handed down to us today. I’m thankful that the printing press was invented. Also, they didn’t have TV, Radio, Computers, Phones… these men were far better read and educated than we are. We have technology, they had wisdom.
The Founders Warn Against the Drift Toward Collectivist Left: (From: 5000 Year Leap)
…the Founders warned against a number of temptations which might lure subsequent generations to abandon their freedoms and their rights by subjecting themselves to a strong federal administration operating on the collectivist Left.
They warned against the “welfare state” where the government endeavors to take care of everyone from the cradle to the grave. Jefferson wrote:
“If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy.” (Bergh, Writings of Thomas Jefferson, 10:342.)
They warned against confiscatory taxation and deficit spending. Jefferson said it was immoral for one generation to pass on the results of its extravagance in the form of debts to the next generation. He wrote: “…we shall all consider ourselves unauthorized to saddle posterity with our debts, and morally bound to pay them ourselves; and consequently within what may be deemed the period of a generation, or the life [expectancy] of the majority.” (Bergh, Writings of Thomas Jefferson 13:358)
Every generation of Americans struggled to pay off the national debt up until the present one.
The Founders also warned that the only way for the nation to prosper was to have equal protection of “rights,” and not allow the government to get involved in trying to provide equal distribution of “things.” They also warned against the pooling of property as advocated by the proponents of communism. Samuel Adams said they had done everything possible to make the ideas of socialism and communism unconstitutional. Said he:
“The Utopian schemes of leveling [re-distribution of the wealth] and a community of goods [central ownership of the means of production and distribution], are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown. [These ideas] are arbitrary, despotic, and in our government, unconstitutional.” 17 (William V. Wells, The Life and Public Services of Samuel Adams, 3 volumes, Little, Brown and Company, Boston 1865, 1:154)
Though I have partially answered your claim, I have found that most people don’t seek truth; they seek to destroy or attack everything that is against their own personal proclivities. It reminds me of the dysfunctional way our government works today, actually.
Regarding the Constitution; that is another debate. The one thing it attempts is to keep us out of the ditch, AND, keep most of the powers in the States – to the point of having Senators chosen by the States instead of the people because they wanted the Senators to be accountable directly to the States, keeping power focused there, because the House would be elected by popular vote. Of course, we in our wisdom did the very thing they set out not to do – made the Senators accountable to no one but special interest – which they also warned us about but we didn’t listen.
Our Constitution has been trashed by the Federal Government. Even our current Senators and Congressmen will tell you that most of what they do they have no Constructional power to do. It would have to be determined in the Courts.
The States have been weak but they are now being forced to change. by the people of the States. There are a number of States which are reclaiming their right to any and all powers not specifically handed to the Federal Government, for as you know these were explicitly deemed belonging to the States and the people of the States.
There was tremendous fear by the Founding Fathers that the Federal Government would become too powerful. Why? Because they just fought a war because of that very thing – the powers were far removed from the people in a city far away and could care less about the common man and his concerns. They only wanted what they wanted, period. Sound familiar? You can call them Democrat or Republican – doesn’t matter. It is time that WE THE PEOPLE understand what our government truly is and make sure we allow no one to take it away, rule-by-rule, law-by-law, regulation-by-regulation until we are owned lock-stock-and barrel by powers that have slowly stolen away our freedoms and liberty and left us slaves to the world in the form of a mountain of debt that can never be paid! Fear! Because that is what is happening to us. That is why the dollar has fallen 30% in just a short time. Did you make 30% returns on your investments in the last 2 years? Guess what, you got screwed, too. Just watch what happens to our children and grandchildren. That is why American Citizens are seeking each other out. You can call the Tea Party, Patriots, whatever. They are just scared and angry citizens. They see past the change, they look farther, into the future and truly tremble with fear and anger. They must act – they are compelled, for the first time in their life, because the situation has become that dire. Just watch the NY Times and other media in the coming year. They are starting to understand the calamity coming and even they realize they must start broaching this terrible politically destructive subject. They have no choice for they will become completely irrelevant if they don’t – but they will. Watch.
Nowhere in the Constitution is their power given to the Federal Government to force anyone to purchase Health insurance or be fined and jailed. That is not a Federal duty or Power. That power belongs to the States and it will be in the Supreme Court and the nation will watch and the powers that be grapple with these issues. They have been let off easy on some of these things in the past, but no more. If they chose wrong, the next generation will swing and vote until all are replaced eventually. The only fear is that it may be too late to save America. Hopefully they will be honest brokers in interpreting the Constitution; not rewriting it to their political way of thinking.
The Constitution has very specific language on how it can be changed. It is not a rubber balloon that expands and contracts with the political party in power – no matter what they may tell us.
Lastly, your comment about where were we during George Bush? You are absolutely correct in asking that question. As I said, we were asleep. We believed that the Republicans and Democrats would not do so much harm to our nation that we would be deeply wounded and hurt – the power was somewhat balanced out with the Democrats in the House and the Republicans in the White House. We were wrong for believing in them and I apologize. We will not make that mistake again and many of both parties will possibly bite the dust in 2010; I hope so.
We should have all been wrapping arms around DC and demanding that they govern for WE THE PEOPLE. That doesn’t mean the government takes care of every booboo or becomes our big brother. It also doesn’t mean that the government doesn’t work for the common good of her citizens. Our problem(s) are pretty much the same on both sides of the center: There is no balance in DC any longer and our politicians are leading us into a civil war that will be fought on many levels in our nation. It won’t necessarily be fought with knives and guns but it could be just as dangerous to our vital interest. I am truly afraid for our nation and totally put off by our current leadership at all levels. We need to clean house and White Hose and get people who will work together for America. We don’t have that at any level in Washington, today. They don’t seem to have a clue that they are alienating everyone: Left – Right and Center! Only the political class is happy and that should scare the hel# out of all of us. Only the government, and soon the unions, are growing.

Obama backed out, after agreeing, to the constraints in fund raising he made with McCain. McCain stuck with the deal. Obama raised substantial amounts below $200 which did not have to be reported. It is now assumed that much of this came from outside the United States but he will not realease the informaition to the public – just as he has all of his records under lock and key – unlike any president in our history. The man lied from the beginning, so what comes his way might be just rewards. You can't build a political career on missconceptions and slight of hand. Also, Obama raised, what? 600,000,000? Far more than McCain. This must be stopped or the American people will never be safe again. Also, it must be stopped that foreigners can donate to parties. There should be a clearing commission that all monies must be approved and checked so that we don't have a case of corrupt powerful people electing corrupt officials in the future. We have a pretty poor system today. I agree with you.

McCain saw the facts. He didn't have a chance at out-raising Obama. What's this nonsense about foreigners contributing to Obama? Please, come back to reality.

Look, too many in congress and our president are beholden to big corporate interests.

P.S. I love that the posters on this article are so concerned about the exact number of people who may have been at the rally. You guys are so paranoid and misguided.

Party 'till the 9-iron smashes a window.

[Déjà vu]

Now, the American-Israeli Empire Secretary of State, Hillary Diane Rodham-[Clinton], un le femme sérieux, woman of precocious aspect and judgment, said and we quote, [We're not talking about an exit strategy or a drop-dead deadline], end quote, the mot juste, the conversation-clinching one-liner. Well, that is not the fact, it was [36] Thirty-Six-months, [3] Three-years ago we were told by the Democratic Party’s now Speaker of The House, elect us and we will get the Empire out of the wars of Economic Stimulus, Blood for Oil, Markets and Resources, on the Islamic Crescent, and [36] Thirty-Six-months, [3] Three-years, later were now being sold a bill of goods about yet another [48] Forty-eight months, [4] Four years of were not talking about an exit strategy or a drop-dead deadline, as the George Walker Bush Surge is showcased as the reason now why it is a sound policy to once again use the same surge strategy used by the Bush Administration in Iraq, in Afghanistan, all this has the sense of déjà vu, already seen, this.

[Meeting the raison d’être in Af-Pak]

The [EU/NATO] Think Tanks in [72hs] Seventy-Two hours, in view of the [18] Eighteen-month time table set by Empire Think Tanks, after [95] Ninety-Five Days of decision made without conciliations with the [EU/NATO] Think Tanks, as the Empire Surges, [EU/NATO] European/North Atlantic Treaty Organization Troops will Stand-Down, in [Af-Pak] and will order its troops remaining in [Af-Pak] and new troops to be deployed to take only Defensive Measures/Operations only when fired upon will they return fire, while in the process of the assigned task of training [400K] Four-Hundred-Thousand Military and Police personnel, which operation will be complete on May Day [1st May 2011], the raison d’être, reason for being, involved in nation building [now the new raison d’être in Afghanistan will have been completed. Which means as the [30K] Thirty-Thousand / Corp. Level Surge, at a cost of [$30B/€20B] Thirty-Billion-Dollar/Twenty-Billion Euros, takes place the [50K], Fifty-Thousand, [EU/NATO] Field Army, will stand down from Offensive Combat Operation, any financial or other support beyond [1st May 2011] to be made by the [EU/NATO] nations, will be determined at that time and not in advance.

This horse is out the Gates, but the damage continues. It is [18] Eighteen Months and out or else, as Hollywood, Republic of California, Actor, Producer Michael Moore said this will have an effect on the younger generation that will be profound, the belief that [ALL] politicians are [LIARS] not to be trusted, that they as citizens are and will be disenfranchised from having any real say in the affairs of their government, that it is and will no longer be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but a government of the Elite, by the Lobbyist, and for the [MIC] Military. The present government structure of the Empire is now at stake, this [WILL] lay the foundation of a Third Party Reality. Entering a voting booth the question may now come to mind of a vote, why not try the other guy, at least they have to respond to the people who voted them in, they don’t have a party system to support them, it’s the people who support them from their voting district or they are out of office, the idea of its either or may now be replaced with a wider selection. It looks to be [18] Eighteen months until either the Empire is out of [Af-Pak] or a serious [TBAM] Take Back America Movement will be in the vogue.

Dear DesertCactus. You mentioned:
“…Lastly, your comment about where were we during George Bush? You are absolutely correct in asking that question. As I said, we were asleep…”

It seems to me that you were all woken up by the Fox News alarm clock at the stroke of the Obama swearing in.

I've been asking the following lately on other posts in other papers. Now, more than ever, I wonder “Did Hitler's Brown Shirts know they were Brown Shirts?” I guess (from what you've been saying) that we'll see in the coming months.

Man have you been asleep at the switch. I thought I was – but I have also been silent. You must be one of the ones who have had the run of things and aren’t to happy that a little competition is standing up and speaking out.
Comparing us to brown shirts? You bring nothing to the debate. You just go ahead and stay at your level, I’m not interested in crawling in the gutter.
Are progressives such fools, that they can’t figure out why Americans are rising up out of their chairs? You think it is because a black man was elected President? You don’t have a clue what we are about. Your ignorance and self-deception only helps us going forward.
I don't remember mentioning the date and time I realized we were on the wrong track but it was approximately around when I understood our nation was going into a ten-plus-trillion-dollar deficit in the next 120 months and that my children were going to be slaves to the Chinese who we are trading dollars for cheap and inexpensive products and then loaning back our dollars to us. We are the only empire in the world’s history that did not get tribute from its ancillary territories. Somehow, America has actually ended up giving out more than she takes in to the point that she is now in decline. Because our youth are so ignorant and uneducated compared to other parts of the industrialized world, we are falling behind in leaps and bounds. Our universities are fool of students who come here, get educated, and then take their education back to their home countries and use it to make them even more powerful over the dumbed down Americans.
I was hoping for a debate of ideas. Brown Shirts? How disappointing that my suspicions are proven true by your response. If you are willing to be thoughtful and honest, I will be glad to discuss with you where I am and why I believe what I do, as well as listen back to learn. If you are unable to do anything but hurl epithets, then I have no inerest.

The Tea Party is for limited goverment, free markets and not political parties. They have placed themselves between the people and the government. Elected officials go to Washington and it is the parties that control – not the will of THE PEOPLE. We need term limits and we need to do away with this corrupt system of power that has taken over Washington, a cesspool that has not been drained by the Democrats, they are just like the Republicans – they love being eyeball deep in shi#.

Hi again DesertCactus
I finally managed to get back onto this thread. I'm going to hit the post button before I get kicked off again :o)

I seem to be having a little trouble posting now. It seems as if I’ve been black balled from this paper (if it was Fox News it would be equal to having my mike cut). I’m hoping that I can get one last post on this thread by answering the e-mail of your post directly. (That method “may” get this post onto the thread.)

I’m sure that I was banned from posting because of a complaint being lodged about one of my other two posts.

Anyway: I have a lot to say about the “Tea Party” movement, and (maybe) this one last chance to say it. This will be long but very accurate and backed up with links. The following are parts of articles posted by me in other papers, Enjoy:

Who’s REALLY responsible for the National Debt: (And why haven’t you heard about it.)
Follows the links below to charts that show which party is “really” responsible for consistently raising the national debt.…

You’ll see in the above charts that Democratic Presidents have been consistently lowering the debt while Republican Presidents have been consistently raising it to record levels.

Notice how small the debt was under Carter. Now look at the astronomical rise under Reagan and the first President Bush. Now look at what it was when Clinton left office. President Clinton lowered the debt to the point where it was almost non-existent. (Some say there was a surplus but that seems to be debatable.)

Immediately (under Bush) the debt began to soar again. The ultimate goal according to Grover Norquist, who worked under Bush, was to get the government “down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.” How do you get a government down to that size? You bankrupt it. Or get it close but not quite.

That’s why Republicans increased the national debt to ridiculous extremes every time they held the White House since Carter. (see the charts in the links above.) The strategy was simple: No available money means no new silly “socialist programs such as National Health Care.

Already, because of previous (most likely, successful) polices of the party of RRRg, (that’s right, Pirate), the American people are saddled with the enormous cost of paying “interest” on the debt.

Democrats bring the debt down… Republicans push it right back up. Every time, (until Obama).

From what I can see from charts I’ve been looking at here:…

We seem to be paying 9% of our budget just to pay back interest on the national debt. We seem to be paying 13% for Medicare. How much more Medicare could that extra nine-percent buy. Enough to cover everybody in the country? Probably not, it would cover almost 70% more people than Medicare covers now. Where’s that money going now? Down the drain. Who’s on the other end of that drain? That’s another story (but take a guess).

When Obama took office, technically if he added one dollar to the debt, he would own it. A new record debt, and it would be Obama’s record debt. Mission accomplished Republican style: Bush is off the hook. Obama owns the debt. It’s impossible to fund anything on his heathen socialistic agenda. It’s over for Barry.

What they hadn’t foreseen is that Obama is much smarter than they are. And all Americans should be proud of that fact – with the possible exception anyone who doesn’t really like America. (Why do they hate America, daddy?).

Why are the same people who were once proponents of “supporting a President in a time of war” miraculously now proponents of standing in his way. Bipolar Disorder?

Obana is going to get his Liberal Programs done anyway. And boy, do we have heads exploding on the right. (So be careful where you step.)

Republicans aren’t worried about our children inheriting an enormous debt. If they were, they wouldn’t have allowed Bush to (in eight years) run the debt back up to an amazing new record without a whisper.

But anyway… Thank God that (after eight years) Republicans finally found their voices four months after Obama took office.

The Story of Mister Insurance Man

Study links 45,000 U.S. deaths to lack of insurance…

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Nearly 45,000 people die in the United States each year — one every 12 minutes — in large part because they lack health insurance and can not get good care, Harvard Medical School researchers found in an analysis released on Thursday.

**Mister Insurance Man**

After having his morning coffee and toast, Mister Insurance Man started out the door for work. As he exited the mansion he looked down the driveway to see something that appeared to be a small body lying in front of his Porsche.

“Oh my God!” Mister Insurance Man shrieked and quickly ran down the driveway. When he got to the body, he looked down and breathed a sigh of relief. It was no where near as bad as he had thought – there was no blood. Mister Insurance Man’s new stone driveway had just been laid the week before and hadn’t been sealed yet. Realizing how lucky he had been (this time) he left a voice mail to his secretary, “Make appointment to have driveway sealed.”

Mister Insurance Man slowly rolled the small boy (it was a boy) out of the way of his Porsche with his foot. He did this very gently out of respect. Out of respect for his new $1,500. Amedeo Testoni line shoes. He knew that what he was doing was risky, but he also realized how much it had previously cost to have blood spatters removed from the tires and underside of his beautiful classic Porsche. He weighed the benefit to cost ratio and decided that the shoes would be much easier to have cleaned.

After his day canceling health insurance policies of long time customers when they needed the policies most, Mister Insurance Man began his nightly drive home. He did like his drive home even though he was usually tired from directing (and watching) his office staff wielding their cancel stamps.

After turning the corner to his driveway, Mister Insurance Man slammed on the breaks of his Porsche. The horror – Bodies of (elderly and children) were strewn in the driveway blocking him from his evening martini. (The bodies of the other 39 people who had died durring his 8 hour work day because of a lack of health care access.)

It was then that Mister Insurance Man realized just how wrong this was. “Where’s the outrage!” he sobbed as he looked down the driveway to his mansion. “Where’s the outrage!”

It was obvious that those people just had no respect for private property. (Then a light went of in Mister Insurance Man’s head: “Socialists.” He would use that argument at the next Tea-party demonstration.)

“F**k the tires!’ he screamed as he slammed the Porsche into gear and hit the gas. “F**k the driveway!” he yelled as he heard the bodies crush beneath him. “Just “F**k it!”

Later that evening as he sat in his den with his third martini, he began to reflect on what he had done. How could he have been so unfeeling, so unthinking. The car was surely ruined, and so was his brand new driveway – and for what. It was then that Mister Insurance Man came to the conclusion that a Hummer might better suit his commuting needs. But he would also keep his beloved classic Porsche 356 Readster.

On that one above working day, Mister Insurance Man made
$93,456. (That’s right, Over 93-thousand-dollars.)

CEO salary for 2008
Ron Williams – Aetna – Total Compensation: $24,300,112.
Divide that by 52 and it equals $467,309. Per week
Divide that by 40 (40 hour workweek) that equals $11,682. Per hour.

The Insurance Industry is spending a million dollars a day to keep you from learning the info in the links below (youtube clips).

**** Insurance executive salaries: ****
Single payer is the only way to go. Don’t let them fool you.……

CEO salary for 2008
Ron Williams – Aetna – Total Compensation: $24,300,112.

Ron Williams received over 24 million dollars salary in 2008

Divide that by 52 and it equals $467,309. Per week
Divide that by 40 (40 hour workweek) that equals $11,682. Per hour.

That’s over eleven-thousand-dollars an hour. How much do you make an hour? How much do you make a year.

Average annual US income per year:…

Ball park figure for US annual income $50,000. (50 thousand dollars.)

If you make the average US annual pay of 50 thousand-dollars per year, how many hours would it take Mr. Ron Williams to make the same amount as you do per year.

$50,000. Divided by $11,682. Equals 4.2 hours. That’s right folks. A little over four hours to make as much as you make in a year.

So when Mr. Williams goes to work on Monday, by the time he has his noon lunch break, he’s already made as much money as you will make for that entire year. By the time he goes home that night, he’s made as much as you will make in two years.

By the time he has finished his five day work week, he’s made as much money as you will make in ten-years. (Ten years for you – one week for him.)

Two weeks pay for Mr. Williams equals Twenty-years pay for you.
Five leisurely weeks for Mr. Williams equals Fifty-years for you.

Mr. Williams could retire after working only five weeks with as much money as you made in your entire fifty-year work career.

More info: (I don’t have links to these facts handy and I may be off on some of it by a little bit. But as far as I know, these facts are very accurate. Don’t let anyone bluff you. If anyone tries to tell you these things are wrong, ask them for links to the real figures. Better still – google these things yourself.)

Medicare overhead equals 3 cents on every dollar. (Three pennies.)
Insurance Company overhead is 30 cents. (One third of every dollar.)
So who is the most cost efficient?

Insurance Industry is currently spending a million dollars a day to keep you from getting a public option.

Think of Medicare when you think of government run health care. Do you know of anyone who has had any problems with Medicare?
Have you ever heard of Medicare canceling anyone’s coverage when they needed it most?

**Tea Party people: Please read this.**

Meet the Billionaire Brothers Funding the Right-Wing War on Obama.…

From the article:
At the dawn of the Obama presidency, Koch groups quickly maneuvered to try to stop his first piece of signature legislation: the stimulus. The Koch-funded group “No Stimulus” launched television and radio ads deriding the recovery package as simply “pork” spending. The Cato Institute — founded by Charles — as well as other Koch-funded think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, produced a blizzard of reports distorting the stimulus and calling for a return to Bush-style tax cuts to combat the recession.

As their fronts were battling the stimulus, David's Americans for Prosperity (AFP) spent the opening months of the Obama presidency placing calls and helping to organize the very first “tea party” protests. AFP, founded in 1984 by David and managed day to day by the astroturf lobbyist Tim Phillips, has spent much of the year mobilizing “tea party” opposition to health reform, clean energy legislation, and financial regulations.

The truth behind the origin of the Tea Party Movement.

(All you “Tea Party” people out there really should read this. It may open your eyes.)…

From the article:

… CNBC correspondent Rick Santelli rocketed from being a little-known second-string correspondent to a populist hero of the disenfranchised…

Santelli’s “rant” calling for a “Chicago Tea Party”… …rapidly spread across the blogosphere…

…A nationwide “tea party” grassroots Internet protest movement sprung up seemingly spontaneously, all inspired by Santelli…

But was Santelli’s rant really so spontaneous?…

…Why were there so many sites and organizations online and live within minutes or hours after his rant, leading to a nationwide protest just a week after his rant?

…the uncanny speed and direction the movement took and the players involved in promoting it had a strangely forced quality to it. If it seemed scripted, that’s because it was.

…Santelli’s “rant” was not at all spontaneous as his alleged fans claim, but rather it was a carefully-planned trigger for the anti-Obama campaign…

…his call for a “Chicago Tea Party” was the launch event of a carefully organized and sophisticated PR campaign…

…Big Business is pouring tens of millions of dollars into their media machines in order to destroy just about every economic campaign promise Obama has made…

At stake isn’t the little guy’s fight against big government, as Santelli and his bot-supporters claim, but rather the “upper 2 percent”’s war to protect their wealth…

(How it came about.)
Rick Santelli, live on CNBC, standing in the middle of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, launches into an attack… This is America! We’re thinking of having a Chicago tea party in July…

Almost immediately, the clip and the unlikely “Chicago tea party” quote buried in the middle of the segment, zoomed across a well-worn path to headline fame in the Republican echo chamber…

Within hours of Santelli’s rant, a website called sprang to life. Essentially inactive until that day, it now featured a YouTube video of Santelli’s “tea party” rant and billed itself as the official home of the Chicago Tea Party. The domain was registered in August, 2008 by Zack Christenson…

(Santelli’s seemingly “spontaneous” rant happened on Feb 19, 2009. Six months after the above domain was registered.)

On the same day as Santelli’s rant, February 19, another site called went live. This site was registered to Eric Odom, who turned out to be a veteran Republican new media operative specializing in imitation-grassroots PR campaigns.

There’s much more in the article at the link above. (Who’s behind the scenes etc.) You really should read it if you’re a “Tea Party” member. It may change your mind.

Now, we generally cut and paste items of interest for a closer look at a later date, made by other bloggers and while arranging them into topics we came across some very interesting comments, the argument was made by one American-Israeli Empire Citizen was that the European Union was already is the United States of Europe, and that its existence guarantees the national sovereignty, of each individual state within the Union. The commentators logic went;

A. Democracy by State = Democracy by Population
B. Brussels = Washington, [D.C.] District of Columbia
C. The House of Representatives= The European Parliament
D. The Senate = The Council of Ministers.

The natural reply was the The American-Israeli Empire is a nation-state – that's [1] one nation, [1] one state, [1] One Republic; from which no State within that Republic is allowed to Secede, vote to leave the American-Israeli Empire by any means, you are an American or a foreigner, period. The reason this is different from the Empire is because of European national sovereign tradition, languages, culture, traditions, values, demography, history, and the freedom to withdraw from the [EU], making it a more Confederation of Nations, much like California the France of The American Continent, open shops concerning Unions, your not forced to either join nor participate in the Union, it is the individuals choice and the same applies to the [EU], but if a nation upon the European Continent elects to be a member there are standards which must be met.

No more power to Brussels! Were as the American-Israeli Empire suck power away from its States, which have [NO] option but to comply as they are captive states and former Republics in their own right, with each passing day consolidating its control over each individual state, and region, each [Sovereign] nation within the [EU], is not a captive state or republic within the [EU].

Two [2] Representative given the title Commissioners vice Senators are appointed per each [Sovereign] nation, to act as their proxies, gives attendance flexibility and other advantages, If national governments change, so do the Commissioners with no charades about representing a European Republic, but the interests of their nation within the [EU]. Were as Empire Senators only represent the American-Israeli Empire Central Government, and not individual States, Commissioners represent their individual Governments within in the [EU]. European Commissioners act in [THEIR COUNTRIES SELF INTERESTS FIRST], and the [EU] second, that's what they are there for.

So, what do we see about what could be and the Empires standing in the way of a new path of the Community of Nations in the [21st] Century. The Empire seeks to be the top nation in Hierarchy of nation states, with a Dollar Based Currency System, of American-Israeli Empire established governments, controlled by Empire Elite, Geo-Economically, and Militarily after the Wars of Economic Stimulus, Blood for Oil, Resources and Markets have been completed.

The Dreamers, Thinkers, and Workers of the [21st] Century see a system of [Spheres of Influence], such as the [EU], [ASEAN] Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and other Geo-Spheres within the Community of Nations, brought together by regional self-interests and not by Force and not maintained by Force, such as are the States of The Empire, without the freedom of choice to leave the Republic and voice to their individual self-interests with a Geo-Economic based upon a Diversified/Multilateral Currency Regime, ending of Wars of Economic Stimulus, and the concept of Peace thru War, bring in a new era of Peace thru common interests of joint ventures of interests Geo-political, and Economic.

The Choice is a Hierarchy of nation states dominated by the American-Israeli Empire, or a Confederation of Sphere of Influence, working for the good of all within the Community of the Worlds Nation States.

Thanks for replying. We have to get away from name calling because: 1st we are Americans and our country is in trouble. A divided house cannot stand, and neither can a divided nation. I am all for health care reform, for example, but my congresswoman and Senators would not take a call from me or even see me. I set up an appointment with my congresswoman, let her know the week I would be in D.C. and asked to see her and to have her staff get back with me. She was obviously too busy to see me locally 10 minutes from my home. So I go to D.C. and she isn't there and her staff never told me to reschedule my trip to when she would be there. I was greatly disappointed and felt totally unrepresented because I helped get this person in office with my money and my support. So Justsane, I feel betrayed by even the local level politician, and when they get to DC we don't even exist. I have written a number of letters, faxed every member of Congress at least three times, and have never spoken to anyone or received anything but a form letter back. Even the staff don't respond.

After that kind of rejection, to go out into the internet world and see that it is just full of crazy talk, name calling and just hatred and vindictive, is pretty disshartening because is it really worth the effort to fight for your children, along with mine? I have come to the conclusion that I will lay down my life to keep my family free and will fight an ever more powerful Government that now has the tentacles to reach into all aspects of our financial lives, and soon our actual health records. Eventually the people will turn on this government because it will not be able to deliver as the baby boomers come online and strip out all the funds that are going into the system. Even Obama said we only bought an extra 120 months.

With the expiration of the sunset tax cuts from the Bush Administration, the increase in taxes (sorry not a tax, an insurance premium) that youth will have to pay or be fined, and the fact that the U.S. is being asked to not give 30 billion a year to other countries but 60 billion a year – not counting what we must do for our own country (with NO Nuclear power plants evidently being built despite the fact we now get 20% of our electricity from nuclear), it just finally gets you down and you say “Screw It.” But I would rather die trying than to sit on my ass and wait for the Federal Gov to become my big brother.

We don't fear the Federal Govt now. I can assuredly predict that your children or grandchildren will if we don't get a stranglehold on its growth wile we are still able. The Department of Homeland Security will be anything but in the coming decades. Read “1984″. It seems to be possible now, whereas before I would have laughed at it.

We have to work together and understand that Freedoms are being taken away from us. We have one Europe. We fought to be free of it, yet it seems to never stop working to bind us in laws and treaties so as to make the American people pay for their mistakes (wars), their rebuilding (look at our inner cities from World War II and look at Japans – we paid for peace while they rebuilt modern plants and cities. We ended up with ghettos and an ever increasing ignorant youth that doesn't know where Europe is on a world globe.)

We have some real problems. I only have a lot of questions at this point, but I will form opinions and beliefs I will be willing to live by and die for. America is far more than a bunch of whores in Washington DC running the nation into the ground. She is wounded now, but we can work together to heal her because one thing is perfectly clear to all – or should be: America is becoming divided into two nations that will use every means to undermine and attack the other. The results will be a government that cannot go out into public, must be protected from the people who want to rend and tear them apart; and people will start doubting their neighbors. All we have to do is look at history. It will repeat itself if we don't because this is the road most traveled over history – nothing new hear. It's just that we all have a lot more to lose now. We better learn to work together and get past the name calling or I fear the same things that are going on Pakistan and the Middle East could come here to roost with some who lose hope in the Governement. I prefer to work together.

It’s funny how widespread disgust over the Wall Street bailout
(supported by President Bush and both parties including my Senators,
Isakson and Chambliss) was turned into an anti Obama rally.
