Obama’s Rock-Star Status Upgraded to Arena-Rock-Star Status

Critics and wags already take pleasure in scorning Sen. Barack Obama as a political rock star. Now all they need is an appropriate ’80s arena-band metaphor to make the analogy complete. As our sister site, Colorado Independent, notes, campaign officials have announced that Obama will formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination at Denver’s INVESCO Field, otherwise known as the home of the Denver Broncos. Obama will give his acceptance speech on the last day of the Democratic National Convention, Aug. 28, before a crowd possibly reaching 75,000. We’re still waiting to hear what glam band will play in the background as he ascends to the podium. Cinderella? Great White?
