The 60 Plus Association and the Conservative Movement

Greg Sargent points out that the 60 Plus Association, the industry-funded conservative group which tries to wedge seniors against the Democrats, hired the makers of the 1988 “Willie Horton” ad to craft a new video blasting senators over health care.

One tidbit about 60 Plus, which has a curious role in the conservative movement’s firmament: it played a small part in this year’s Virginia elections. Republican power-lawyer Barbara Comstock won a tight delegate race in northern Virginia, swept in by Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell’s landslide. 60 Plus arranged a robocall for Comstock from Pat Boone, the group’s national spokesman.

Now that AARP and the AMA have both sided with healthcare reform, the insurance lobby has narrowing options: they'll make up for it with the virtually limitless $$$ they can throw around
