New Orleans is a Democratic city that was open-minded enough to elect a Republican. They would reject any Tea Bagging neo-con on EARTH who might run against Cao. Cao listened to his constituents and he did the right thing. Leave our Congressman alone.

"Anyone can go to an emergency room?" And who pays for that, eh? We all do. Why do you think hospitals -- especially emergency rooms -- are do damned expensive? Because the cost for free care HAS TO BE SPREAD OUT TO ALL OF US. The estimate is that such "care" costs each of us about $1200 a year (and that figure was before the last few years' cost increases.

We already have socialized medicine -- it's just the most inefficient method of funding it, because it's through the 'private sector' (not even under the control of the insurance companies, who have to cover these costs -- plus profits -- and then pass those increases on to those of us with insurance).

Health care costs, both through insurance and through reimbursement for hospital care offered the uninsured, act as a drag on our industries, because US companies offer insurance to their workers, but insurance is not a part of the cost of our foreign competitors' products, so we pay for that, too, with jobs going overseas and all.

It's distressing to see huge corporations being so strongly defended by the people who are thus victimized twice -- pay for often-inadequate insurance and then have the companies take the profits to fund a campaign of lies, half-truths, and fear-mongering to defeat efforts to fix the situation.

Anyone who's ever had to go to a hospital for a serious problem only to get behind a bunch of people coming for minor sniffles/injuries b/c they had no insurance & couldn't go anywhere else -- anyone who's done that KNOWS this is NOT health care.

It's too costly to the people who go there needlessly & to the rest of us who pay for them visiting a hospital for no good reason. Plus people in urgent need can't get treatment b/c someone's got a minor complaint & no insurance.

It's a good thing the lady who said the above quote wore a pirate hat. Helps to explain the looting she supports.

Marianne Stebbins absolutely wins the award for the stupidest comment I've read in a LONG time. And that's really saying something.

1. What you get in a hospital is TREATMENT, not HEALTHCARE. There is a biiiiig difference between the two.

2. If what she said had ANY truth to it, there would be no need to fight for health care reform at all!!

3. And of course, as FishyFred says, that treatment is paid for by everyone who has health insurance.

Now ,if you people want to get hitching ,hitch the GOP about their Taxpayer Funded Insurance ,you people pay 80% of your GOP health care and if they us Walter Reed or the Naval Hospital you pay all of it.

The Public Option will give all American a level playing field and it Will Lower the Defict by 100 billion dollars and maybe you people can kick that towards anotehr war as the GOP likes to invade countries for profiteering.

Yes, wingnuts, please donate to this man's primary opponent. Give everything you possibly can. What that district needs a real staunch conservative running, which will ensure that the Democrat in that district wins by about 50 points. Please use ALL of your resources on a very conservative candidate for LA-2.

You two really ought to take another look at LA-2. This may be news to you guys, but congressional districts don't match state lines in Louisiana. Cao is the first republican to win there in 100 years, and that's because the guy he ran against was caught with $90k in his freezer. And he still almost lost.
