Only 45 days after the House first passed the bill.

All that delay was BS they timed it so BO could sign it the day the new monthly numbers came out

I read some where that checks won't go out until mid December. Is that true? Iam in NYC and I have been without benefits for two weeks already. If not mid December, then when exactly? The last time there was an extension the checks went out the week after it was signed.

More likely, the numbers caused some members of Congress to stop stalling the bill with non germane amendments. But, maybe that's just my take…

Those that are wondering about when to expect payments, if you go to your states dept of employment security there may be a notice on there.

Here is what the Illinois website says:

November 6, 2009
President Obama signed legislation today giving Illinois workers additional unemployment benefits. Those who have exhausted their unemployment insurance benefits, or will do so within the next several weeks, may be eligible for an additional 20 weeks of benefits. Next week, the Department will begin notifying individuals by mail. The additional benefit payments will start the week of November 23. Please check this site for continued updates. >> more information

In CA, they have to do some sort of complex programming before we can get the benefit checks, otherwise we would be receiving it on Nov. 30th. Although they recognize that the benefit period starts tomorrow, they said they have to work around the clock to do this complex programming. They did this before after the Fed Ed extension was passed and it took them an add'l 3 weeks. So I guess sometime in Dec. I'll see a check. I'm kind of broke right. I'm afraid my yardsale today didn't make me much money.

Well I'm happy the extension passed, but now EDD(CA) is saying it will take them several weeks to implement. Also they are saying that although CA is one of the high unemployment states and is eligible for the 20 weeks extension, they are saying that it is likely that six weeks of that will be cut off because of end-of-year federal filings. Does anyone understand that?

It was 20 weeks for all states over 8.5% I called my friend here at my DOL he said they dont have any info yet as far as the reps go. So dont get stressed. the local DOL reps dont know anything yet. And as far as I am concerned they should have all the info on all the one's that are exhausted already. Z keep your head up it will all work out. There is even talk about a tier 4. The reps are going crazy now they are very stressed also. Keep positive. and fend off your collectors call them now as I have done and I even got one of my credit cards to waive my late fee and reduce my interest rate. they would rather see money from you than nothing at all. best of luck in the job search…Trace

The OEC dumbasses don't know anything yet, but the date is supposedly Nov 23 in Oklahoma. They will mail notices this week or next week if you are eligible.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Unemployment Benefit Extension to Immediately Impact Approximately 7,000 Oklahomans

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (November 10, 2009) – Thousands of unemployed Oklahoma workers who have exhausted their benefits could be immediately eligible for extended unemployment compensation signed into law Friday by President Obama. The Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009 changes the maximum number of weeks that a person can collect Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier 2 benefits from 13 weeks to 14 weeks and establishes EUC Tier 3 benefits for those who exhaust their EUC Tier 2 claims. The law went into effect on Sunday, November 8, 2009.

Unemployment claimants are first eligible for up to 26 weeks of regular state unemployment benefits from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC). Once these regular benefits are exhausted, claimants can receive federal extended unemployment benefits known as EUC Tier 1 for up to 20 additional weeks. When a claimant has collected all eligible EUC Tier 1 payments, they can apply for EUC Tier 2, now for a maximum of 14 weeks. After EUC Tier 2 is exhausted, claimants can apply for EUC Tier 3 and collect extended unemployment benefits for up to 13 weeks. An additional tier of benefits was added for states whose unemployment rate averages at least 8.5 percent for a three-month period. Oklahoma’s most recently released seasonally adjusted unemployment rate (September 2009) was 6.7 percent. October figures will be released on November 20, 2009.

Approximately 7,000 Oklahomans who have collected all of their EUC Tier 2 benefits are expected to be impacted by this unemployment benefit extension. OESC will mail all current and former EUC Tier 2 claimants a determination informing them of their eligibility and providing instructions for filing. Once the final week of EUC Tier 2 benefits is paid, claimants will then be able to apply for EUC Tier 3. All EUC Tier 3 claims will be backdated so that claimants receive benefits for all weeks in which they were entitled to them. Because filing instructions will be mailed to each claimant’s address of record, it is very important for claimants to make sure OESC has their most current address on file.

“This extension will help quite a few Oklahomans,” said Jerry Pectol, OESC Director of Unemployment Insurance. “We ask that our claimants be patient as we implement these changes. We want to assure them that everyone will receive all of the benefits for which they are eligible.”

About OESC – The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission is Oklahoma’s state workforce agency. OESC provides unemployment compensation to support unemployed workers and their communities; matches jobs and workers to benefit local labor markets; prepares a skilled workforce to meet employers’ needs; and gathers, analyzes and disseminates information about the labor force to improve local economic decisions.

I am in Oklahoma City and an not unemployed, but I have deep concern for my fellow Oklahomans who are.

There is no need for someone to harass the struggling people here, and he/she should be banned from the site.

Comment posted January 5, 2010 @ 8:02 pm

It is required to re-file in Minnesota for Tier III. However after 8 weeks, still nothing. Spoke with office managers, supervisors, director, etc. Their explanation is a computer GLITCH?… According to supervisors, many folks here in Minnesota who qualify for TierIII have seen nothing. Continue to file as they say payment for back weeks is also automatic. Even wrote my legislator. Computer Glitch sounds completly inipt, I would buy a program that needs to be written excuse or no funds available.. All I would like to know is when to expect this extension, even a aprox week or month would relieve anxiety. It doenst take any pressure off trying to find a job, but what gives?,, anyone? This almost seems incompetent or criminal. Local News media is next possiblity to get some satisfactory responses from the director of DEED. Somone knows something but it isnt being shared.

i dont know but if your like me my unemployment tier 3 ran out . im in school no job and going hungry . but everyone can thank our represenitve james colbern for losing what little we had left . he is the one who blocked the bill for extendind our bennifits . when it comes to election time lets put him out of a job . and get somebody in office that will help the people instead of letting us lose all we have caus they screwed all of us over . they bail out banks that turn around and give it high ups million dollar bonuses . and take pay offs to let our jobs go to mexico and over seas . they need to take care of the united states people . not mexico or wallstreet

I called Senator Inhoffe’s office, Rep. Okla.. about the Tier 4 Extension. His secretary told me that as long as Oklahoma’s Unemployed % was below the national average that no Tier 4 benefits would be paid. This was just before the holidays and my Tier 2 was running out.At least I’ve got my house out of forclosure, for the time being.Who knows what Mid March will bring?

Maybe if all of us Okies would call Senator Inhofe’s and ask them why some states are getting 99 weeks and us lazy Okies are loosing our butts, cars and housing.
