Liberal fascists like brendanm posted lies and propaganda to suggest that Ron Paul is a racist. I clicked on one of the random links to read the so-called "proof." What was it? Nothing. The www.tnr.com link gave ZERO quotes of anything Ron Paul actually said. Now, I could easily give quotes of Joe Biden's racism, or Jesse Jackson's racism, of Al Sharpton's racism, of Byrd (who is an actual KKK member, not a phony Liberal fascist lie of "knowing a person who is accused of being...").

But this is the lies, stupidity, and propaganda that we have to deal with regularly. His/her/its proof consists of no proof. His/her/its examples are no examples. There isn't a single quote. There isn't a single incidence beyond hearsay. There's just lies, stupidity, and propaganda. And when it comes to ACTUAL terrorists (Bill Ayers), ACTUAL nazi cohorts (George Soros), and ACTUAL racists (too many Liberal Fascists to name), the double standard is applied.

I am a liberterian but remain skeptical of Rand Paul's chances since Kentucky is an ill-suited state for the liberterian message. Not only are are people their socially conservative (i.e. disagree wtih Rand's positions on Gay marriage/drugs) they are also economic populists (i.e. don't mind govt handouts) a legacy of the coal mining/manufacturing roots.
I wish him the best and will contribute to the effort but I am not that hopeful.

With Ron Paul's history of taking money from individuals or speaking to groups with known white nationalist/racist/anti-Semitic views like Stormfront-founder Don Black, American Renaissance magazine, and the Institute for Historic Review, his long association with white supremacist and secessionist Lew Rockwell, and his closeness with the so-called "Patriot" militia movement (from which came the terrorist Timothy McVeigh), I don't see how this is coming as a surprise to anyone but the most willfully ignorant. Paul's endorsement of the repugnant bigot Chuck Baldwin last year alone should be enough to dismiss him permanently from the mainstream of society.

Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Trey Grayson is a cynical opportunist who became a Republican merely out of expediency as the overall politics of Kentucky shifted rightward in the mid-90's.

When I knew Grayson at UK Law he was an honest to goodness liberal. I believe the guy's Wikipedia entry even alludes to his fortuitous change in political philosophy.

I suppose the Republican base prefers someone a little more ideologically consistent. Someone who did not spend a big chunk of his life in a "closet," if you will. (Double-meaning most certainly intentional.)
