I work for wal-mart in florida. I was just home sick with the flu, when I brought my note from the dr. to stay home, i was told by the store manager, it didn't matter, it still counted against me. when you are sick you need to stay home, they posted this note by the timeclock if you are sick clock in and talk with manager, they are still going to make you work.

oh you have no idea. Listen, they tell you not to come to work if you have headache, body aches, high fever, nausea and vomiting which are very important swine flu symptoms and the Dr's office say "dont come in here" cause they know what you have. Its a no win situation with Wal-Mart or any place of work.

This is outrages, We have been in America from Australia for nine months now travelling and used wal mart car parks to stay in over night with our RV.
We have both been appalled by the way your government treats its people, and the enforced working conditions. In Australia you get a mandatory 8 days sick leave and 3 days family leave that you can take when your children are sick or go to a funeral etc with out a doctor’s certificate.
We have spoken to a lot of Americans and they say they are lucky to get a week of a year and ½ of them are made feel guilty about that. I think its discussing what happened to the balance between work and family.
I thought slavery was abolished just seems that it got hid behind bureaucracy.

Most hourly wage earners get paid sick time if they are full time. The problem is these companies like Walmart got rid of most of their full time positions and are running on an army of part-timers. You can figure out why.
