NY-23: ‘Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!’

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — I don’t blog everything that Sarah Palin writes on Facebook, but her response to Vice President Joe Biden’s jab at her energy policy — made at a Bill Owens rally in Watertown — seems noteworthy. First, there’s the speed with which it went up. Second, there’s the phrase “Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman,” which is a pretty impressive commitment to campaign rhetoric. And third is the sourcing she uses to hit back at Biden:

The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”

That quote is from a 2008 Coulter column titled “BIDEN SECRET SERVICE CODE NAME: ‘ASSASSINATION INSURANCE.’”

As Ann Coulter pointed out, of course, Ann Coulter pointed it out to Palin. Palin would never have read the book and remembered the infor in it all by her little ole self. Palin is intellectually challenged and anyone who relys on her for leadership has go to be as light weight as she is. The leaders of the right use Sarah Palin for her rock star popularity to draw crowds. They feed her info, tell her what to say and how to say it. Palin would never be caught by herself, left to her own devices to answer questions on her own in a million years. Catch Palin off guard, ask her a question she is unprepared for and she will stutter, wink and stumble and afterward whine that she is being treated unfairly. If Palin were a democrat, Ann Coulter would eat for breakfast and spit her out 10 minutes later so her dog could finish her off. The right wing leadership is throwing their tea bag followers a bone and that bone is Sarah Palin. When they are through with her, or she doesn't follow instructions from Bill Crystal and her other Svengali's, they will send her back to rookie camp.

Palin claims Alaska “produces nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy.” That's not true.

Alaska did produce 14 percent of all the oil from U.S. wells last year, but that's a far cry from all the “energy” produced in the U.S.

Alaska's share of domestic energy production was 3.5 percent, according to the official figures kept by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

And if by “supply” Palin meant all the energy consumed in the U.S., and not just produced here, then Alaska's production accounted for only 2.4 percent.

Palin is a moron.
She's like the character Chance the Gardener in Being There. The GOP deserves her. Please stay on Facebook Sarah . . . . Whether Hoffman wins or not–the GOP loses. It shouldn't have been an issue about who'd win. The seat has been republican for 140 years. The wingnuts have taken over the asylum and I have to say–it's QUITE entertaining.
