NY-23: Scozzafava Campaign Manager Backs Hoffman
Sunday, November 01, 2009 at 6:28 pm
WATERTOWN, NY – Early this afternoon, I contacted Dede Scozzafava’s former campaign manager Matt Burns, who told me that since she left the race he was “not familiar with her current thinking or decision-making.” A little while later, he clarified his thinking on Scozzafava’s endorsement of Bill Owens.
“Dede is entitled to her own opinion, as is everyone, but I obviously disagree with her decision,” said Burns. “I am supporting Doug Hoffman, because denying Nancy Pelosi another foot soldier is vital to restoring fiscal responsibility and common sense in Washington.”
Burns, a Republican strategist who worked at the Republican National Convention last year, was in an awkward position in the final weeks of the Scozzafava campaign, getting heaped with scorn from the conservative media, and talking to liberal media like TalkingPointsMemo to get his side out. With this, he’s liberated.

I think you would be outraged by the intrusion of outsiders into 23rd District’s local politics deciding how they should vote. I don't think that this country has seen such blatant corporate driven bullying since the 1930s. It is clear as an observer that this is arm-twisting in a big way when a moderate Republican candidate is forced to drop out, and has more in common with the Democratic candidate, yet Republicans are expected to vote the Conservative ticket just because the candidate is Republican.
Where is your palpable outrage from those being considered so programmed by the party? I find it odd that no one is mentioning the NY-20th election of 2006 where the Democratic candidate, Kirsten Gillibrand, was 19 points behind at this same point in the race and she was written off too by the same poll, but I believe she will be visiting their soon to talk about such things. I think local wisdom will prevail and when they vote their conscience the outsiders will do a lot more homework next time before they rush in to save the day. I think that any effect she would have had, she still can have on this election. After all, she is still on the ballot. And by the way, Dierdre Scozzafava has endorsed the other local candidate who happens to be a Democrat, Bill Owens.
BTW you might want to know what lies the Republican party is putting out: http://article.wn.com/view/2009/10/31/Republica… No doubt, with plausible deniability as usual. Compare that to this: http://www.accountableamerica.org/

The publisher of the Watertown Daily Times is a limousine liberal. He's not concerned with the fiscal health of the nation as much as he is about pork for the 23rd District. But the system of out-of-control spending, whether through earmarks or other means, is on the verge of destroying America. It is time to choose a CPA over yet another lawyer in Congress.

The Republican Party quit on Dede before she ever thought of quitting on them. Shame on them.
