Tony Blair Still Bruised by Iraq War Support

Back in January, TWI’s Spencer Ackerman singled out former Prime Minister Tony Blair as one of the world leaders most damaged by his alliance with former President George W. Bush. According to this fascinating tidbit from the Financial Times, Blair hasn’t recovered yet. Blair, seen just weeks ago as the likely first president of the European Union, is losing support over his decision in 2002 to back the Iraq War.

Gordon Brown, prime minister, made an impassioned appeal at a private meeting with fellow socialists to back Mr Blair.

“You need to get real – this is a unique opportunity to get a strong progressive politician to be president of the council,” he said. But there was little backing for a man whose support for the Iraq war was divisive.

In fact, Tony Blair is bruised by being an all-round crook.

Good. Blair sealed his own fate. He has no business being president of anything. Too bad so many had to die for it.
I guess this the only accountability our “betters” can expect: someone might not vote for them to lead the club.

What next, are people going to hold the liberation of Iraq against George W. Bush and refuse to support him for Secretary-General of the U.N.?

It's easy for someone like us to sit back and watch how the world is being ruled, but I guess sometimes you have to take some tough decisions and the risks that go along with them. Of course it was a bad idea to have a business like the infamous blair easy saver program out in the open for everybody to see the result, but then again look at Obama, what he promised and never did so far.
