I had no luck getting members of Congress to talk yesterday about the relationship between Ahmed Wali Karzai, brother of the Afghan president, and the CIA. But Jeff Stein, I belatedly see, got Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) to talk about the connection last week. Here’s how Rogers, the ranking Republican on a terrorism subcommittee, describes it:

“There’s a difference between being an intelligence asset and somebody who cooperates,” said Rogers, a former FBI agent. “‘Asset is an overstatement … He is a public official who cooperates … He cooperates when he’s talked to — that’s different than an asset.”

Thanks to The American Prospect’s Adam Serwer for pointing me to Jeff’s piece.
