2012 GOP Poll: Huckabee Leads, Palin Unelectable
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I’d forgotten that eight whole months had passed since the last CNN/Opinion Research poll on the possible GOP primary field. The toplines are good for Mike Huckabee, who has stayed popular and mostly uncontroversial (excepting his “Ted Kennedy would have died early under national health care” moment), and bad for Sarah Palin, who, in the intervening months, quit her job and engaged in an embarrassing spat with her grandson’s father.
Mike Huckabee – 32 percent (+6)
Sarah Palin – 25 percent (-4)
Mitt Romney – 21 percent (+0)
Tim Pawlenty – 4 percent (N/A)
It’s far too early in the game to make much of this, but consider: Four years ago, when Republicans knew they’d be facing a tough election, their early presidential frontrunners were Rudy Giuliani, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), and Romney. The first two were unacceptable to social conservatives, and the third was somewhat more acceptable, but still had huge problems with that part of the GOP coalition. Now the early frontrunners are two social conservatives, one of whom (Huckabee) is despised by the party’s economic conservatives and libertarians, and one of whom (Palin) is seen by many as unelectable — indeed, only 29 percent of Americans in this poll consider Palin qualified for the presidency. And that’s why, despite lagging in surveys like this, most wags still see Romney as the frontrunner.

Dave,
You are wrong about the last toplines. The last CNN 2012 poll came in June.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/02…
Huckabee 22%
Palin 21%
Romney 21%
Gingrich 13%
Bush 6%
So I'm sure an honest “reporter” like yourself will issue a correction to your post upon learning this new information.

Subject: 2012 Presidential Prediction
Two Ph.D Statisticans in Astrophysics correctly picked the winner of the 2004, 2008 Presidential Elections. They used high tech statistical algorithms and 56 Presidential Election results from 1789 to 2000 to correctly predict the winners.
Their 2012 Presidential prediction winner is: Governor Mike Huckabee
Check out their calculations, just google the words: Huckabee Fan Club

Despite the liberal media's and establishment republican's idiotic and fabricated lies about Gov. Huckabee being “extremist” or “stupid” or “unelectable”, the American people regardless of affiliation are waking up to the reality of Gov. Huckabee's common sense and vertical politics. A movement of concerned Americans are starting to realize that a POTUS does not need to be a Superstar nor a Magnate, instead POTUS has to render genuine leadership.
Be ware journalists and career politicians, we are growing day by day.

Sorry, but just what “spat” are we talking about here? I hope we're not calling a disenfranchised ex-boyfriend making all sorts of ludicrous allegations a “spat.” That would be inaccurate to the highest degree.

I don't mean to be rude, but — really — what kind of tortured logic is that you are spinning. Huckabee won the Value Voters Straw Poll in September (he was at 28.5 — Romney and Palin at 12); two weeks ago, he lead in the Rasmussen poll 29, Romney 24 amd Palin 19; the last SEVEN CONSECUTIVE PPP polls show Huckabee doing best against Obama than all other candidates — this month he was only four behind (within the MOE); and now CNN has Huckabee at 32, Palin at 25 and Romney at 21.
Oh, and by the way, in the Rasmussen poll, in a head to head between Huckabee and Romney, it was Huckabee 44, Romne 39; and in a head to head against Palin, it was Huckabee 55, Palin 35 (+20 for Huckabee).
So, tell me again, how does Romney come out on top in all of this???

Great article. huckabee is unelectable as well. He joked about our president being fearful because someone pointed a gun at him! huckabee is vile and a gaffe disaster extraordinaire. No wonder why the Dems wanted huck as the nominee in 2008 for an “easy kill”. Now they'll want him even more next time around!
“That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He's getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.” — Mike Huckabee after his speech to the National Rifle Association was interrupted by a loud noise

The Dems want huckabee bad:
Perception from liberals and Democrats
“On December 11, 2007 the Drudge Report found out that the highest levels of the Democratic Party told their officials to avoid any criticism of 2008 Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, until he would secure the nomination. One Democrat said “He'll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill.” The last time the Democratic National Committee criticized Huckabee was on March 2nd, 2007.[54]”

Mike Huckabee has the intellect, the experience, and the wisdom to make a great President. He is opposed by the worst elements of his own party who were responsible for the economic mess in this country. They know he would stop the corruption because he would not sell out. America needs Mike Huckabee.

Upchuckabee is such bigot that it makes we want to hurl. He's thinks he qualified for President because he dropped out of Jr. College seminary program and hates Mormons. These inbred evangelicals are like a cancer on the GOP. They're ruining it.

The good news: Huckabee is basically a good man. I agree with most of his politics.
The bad news: Huckabee is NOT a fiscal conservative, and he IS a religious bigot. He joined the liberal media in making a big deal out of Mormonism to defeat Romney, which is just how the libs planned it. Once Romney was gone Huckabee had nothing to contribute, and he faded away. Sure, the extremist evangelicals cheered Huckabee on the whole time, so proud of the preacher that they ignored Huckabee's liberal fiscal track record.
Somewhere we've got to find a real conservative. Huckabee isn't going to get the job done.

I am not an evangelical, and I am for Mike Huckabee for President. Whether or not Huckabee runs again in 2012, Mitt Romney will never be elected President because there is just too much visual evidence of his flip flops for political gain, and America has never elected a big businessman President. Huckabee is not a fiscal conservative only in the sense that he has a conscience. Capitalism in its extreme form is an amoral philosophy, and appeals to the worst instincts of man. Properly regulated, it is the engine of progress. America learned that in the 19th Century with the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, but apparently needs to learn it again. The predatory Republicans who got us into this mess need to get lost, and leave the governing to those who care about all Americans.

Patrick, Palin made it a spat when she not only responded, she did so over and over again. She is a boob, and – thank God – an unelectable one at that.

and how would you know anything about a religious bigot or religion for that matter. It sounds like you need to do a little more reasearch on Huckabee before you open that black hole under your nose.
