OK Vote for Hoffman because there must re-emerge a principle in the GOP. We can't vote out the person who held office to express the growing "throw the bums out" concept because BHO has picked them to head some useless and wasteful agancy in the Federal gov't., The GOP doesn't really matter and the Democratic party has proven it by electing BHO. But what if Hoffman loses and His Republican opponent loses because he stays in and fights? Well, that would be OK. It would send a clear message. Being conservative, and getting the conservative vote means that you must be conservative. Not some Liberal "lite" or RINO. It's time to stand up and be counted. Let's get rid of these tax and spend Republicans in the same way that we are always calling for the ouster of Dems who tax and spend. Stop thinking about the party and think about the future.

Contra CW, the Tea Party "revolution" and the Health Care townhall freak-outs are now arguably much, much worse for Republicans than Democrats. Only 20% now self-identify as Republican and the GOP will most likely lose a seat that was theirs practically as a birthright (some counties in NY-23 were were last represented by a Whig before Republican dominance).

With Palin and Bachmann endorsing Hoffman and Gringich backing Scozzafava it will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out leading up to the 2010 elections.

The GOP obviously wants the 2010 legislative races to be referenda on Obama, but how many will be high-jacked instead into, "I'm more conservative than you" fratricides? Is NY-23 a bellwether or an anomaly?
