How’d My Oil Get Under Your Sand?

“They’re opening them (oil fields) up to other companies all over the world … We’re entitled to it,” Pickens said of Iraq’s oil. “Heck, we even lost 5,000 of our people, 65,000 injured and a trillion, five hundred billion dollars.”
Osama bin Laden, 2007:
AL-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has accused the US of plotting to take control of Iraqi oil supplies and he urged Iraqis to reject efforts to rebuild a US-backed national unity government.
In the future, how about not publicly saying things that reinforce bin Laden’s view of the world?

Being from Texas means never having to think before saying something really stupid regarding oil.
But, at least he's in the neighboring regarding how much Bush and Cheney's war of choice is costing us.

Wow, what a lame suggestion. Sounds like it came straight outta Langley.
In the future, how 'bout the US not DO things that inspire other people to murderous vengeance for our hubris? We could start with renouncing full-spectrum dominance, renouncing empire, closing bases, repatriating our military diaspora, then move on to retooling for a green economy, etc.
Or, as you suggest, we can just not publicly SAY we're doing what we're doing, and hope to fool all the people all of the time, following in the footsteps of Rove & Cheney.
Screw bin Laden. It's not what we say, it's what we do that enrages people. If we do the right things, we will perforce be saying them, too.
