Mike Pence: ‘Nearly a Million’ People at 9/12 March

I noticed something odd in Rep. Mike Pence’s (R-Ind.) floor speech today about conservative pundits, and Politico transcribed it.

As evidenced by the hundreds of thousands that filled town hall meetings this summer and the nearly a million Americans who gathered here in Washington in September, millions of Americans, Republicans, Democrats and Independents are worried about liberal social policies and runaway federal spending, deficit and debt.

The best estimate of the Sept. 12 march’s size was about 60,000 to 70,000, according to the D.C. Fire Department and reported by ABC News and other sources. Pence is inflating that figure by at least 1000 percent. I expect dramatic inflation of the march’s size to be with us forever, even though it seems sort of silly — even the lower number is the largest gathering of economic conservatives in anyone’s memory.

Since the subject was ostensibly “conservative pundits,” why didn't Pence go with Beck's 1.7 million figure, seeing as it was Beck's party and all?
Historical revision used to take time. Now it's instantaneous.

It's funny but HotAir had side-by-side photos of Obama's inauguration attendance, which the UK Telegraph estimated at 1.2 million people, & the 9/12 TEA Party crowd, which looked every bit as big as the Obama inauguration crowd.

Why is one crowd unquestioned but a similar-sized crowd is “inflated by 1000%”?

That wasn't the Tea Party in the photographs. It was a miscaptioned photo of the Promise Keepers rally in 1997. Actually photographs of the Tea Party as it happened showed a crowd of approximately 50-70,000.

Sorry.

And oh – the Tea Partiers left a *mess* behind them – signs thrown on the ground, trash, food, water bottles, and overflowing trash cans. Quite disgusting.

Actually, you're wrong. I attended the Promise Keepers rally. It didn't look anything like that. Nice try.

Eleventy-billion would sound right to the nutjobs. They couldn't even scratch up 100,000 idiots for their “march”, and they expect us to believe that the “movement” is growing?

These wackos are just the vocal minority in politics, today. Even if legislation benefits the people, they will still vilify it, just on principle (what principle, no one knows).

Beck's agenda is his own- He fashions himself as another Thomas Paine, or something. His latest celebration in Skagit County, in Washington State, where he grew up (believe me, the rest of the state does not appreciate that he comes from there) cost the county $18,000. I wonder, in this day and age of recession, if Beck will reimburse the county for it's ill-advised wacko party. Oh, by the way, Fox noise, during the “march” was caught trying to “pump up” the crowd, before a broadcast. I suppose it's O.K., seeing as Fox noise is only an OPINION network, if only so many of you wackos didn't take the OPINION for truth.

Yes, the other networks DID cover that stupid “march”, and you would know that, if you watched more than just Fox noise.

So, to all the nutcases who believe in Fox noises' “truth”, nix the horseshit about your “growing” movement. The rest of us KNOW what the truth is, because we don't get it from Fox noise.
I've had about 2 million opinions in my life, and will have a couple of million more, before I die. What makes Fox noises' OPINIONS so special? Hmmm?!
