Dick Cheney Plays Self; Others Reply

It really doesn’t make any sense to chide other people for indecision on Afghanistan when you, y’know, helped bring the country to the current dire crossroads. But Dick Cheney is Dick Cheney, and so the movie unspools itself again, oblivious to the outside world. Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, now of the progressive National Security Network, replies:

The record is clear: Dick Cheney and the Bush administration were incompetent war fighters. They ignored Afghanistan for 7 years with a crude approach to counter-insurgency warfare best illustrated by: 1. Deny it.  2. Ignore it. 3. Bomb it. While our intelligence agencies called the region the greatest threat to America, the Bush White House under-resourced our military efforts, shifted attention to Iraq, and failed to bring to justice the masterminds of September 11.

The only time Cheney and his cabal of foreign policy ‘experts’ have anything to say is when they feel compelled to protect this failed legacy. While President Obama is tasked with cleaning up the considerable mess they left behind, they continue to defend torture or rewrite a legacy of indifference on Afghanistan. Simply put, Mr. Cheney sees history throughout extremely myopic and partisan eyes.

Doesn’t it bother our security people when ex-VP of this country declares for all to hear that we are weaker now than before? Does it not sound like an invitation to terrorists to try to attack us again?

I would expect much more responsible comments from our immediate ex-VP. If he is not to be trusted with the responsibility Mr. Eric Holder should put him detention for national security reasons. No questions asked. Right Mr. Cheney?

Our ex-VP for sure knows how to turn guns on our friends though – especially in orange vests.

Cheney is pathetic & craven on so many levels that it simply boggles. It would appear that his former boss GW has had it with the chickenhawk's ranting and babbling as much as the rest of us have.
Even though he has an entire “news” network to promulgate his swill, as well as a very articulate wife, now he even has his daughter running around acting as chief apologist/revisionist—tireless as the duracell bunny, she must know what an endless & thankless job carrying water for this scumbag obviously is…waddya gonna do; you can't choose your parents…

You don't know Dick.
(Thank you, I'll be here all week. Tip your server…)
It's hard out there for a war criminal. Obama and Holder appear content to give Cheney a pass, but some in Congress, and some in slightly more civilized nations less deferent to executive branch criminals, may actually want something more akin to accountability.

I have published an Open Letter to Eric Holder, the US Attorney General, asking him to either properly investigate the 9/11 Attacks or charge me with libel for accusing Dick Cheney of murdering at least 175 innocent American citizens that fateful September morning. Please read the letter, and show your support by asking that the charges be filed against me if the government will not conduct an open investigation to find the true criminals responsible for murdering nearly 3,000 of our fellow countrymen.
