Guess what, David? Ge0ffrey's right in his succinct assessment of the poll and your gleeful story about it.

And if you'd displayed the curiosity of a real journalist, you'd have discovered that the poll was dramatically skewed in its sampling.

That's right -- as reported today, Democrats accounted for 33% of the poll's respondents, whereas Republicans represented only 20%.

Gee, think that might have had just a little something to do with the final tally?

Stand by for the next astounding Washington Post/ABC News poll, which shows that by an overwhelming margin, New York Yankees fans would prefer to see the Yankees win the World Series.

Seriously, why do you people call yourselves the "Independent"? Judging from your not-too-thinly-disguised opinions, you're as much in Obama's pocket as his car keys.

[...] Poll: Democrats Lead GOP for 2010 Chris Cillizza delves into the internals of the Washington Post poll that has support for a “public option” in health care ticking back up. It’s lousy for Republicans. Only 19 percent of Americans trust the GOP to make the right decisions, and just 37 percent want Congress to pass a bill with Republican support if it doesn’t include the public option. Just as ominously, it has the Democratic lead in the generic 2010 ballot test at 12 points, illustrated in the graph after the jump. [...]
