I think Obama is right. Anyone who watches Fox for a day would know it is an arm of the GOP. It has been almost since its beginning. It makes them a profit among the right wingers who watch religiously. That is about 35 % of this country who watch such vile things being said day after day. The hateful speech is meaningful to them. But I feel sorry for them for they get only one side of the story. MSNBC is tilted somewhat to the left but not so boldly as Fox is to the right. For pure news I go to CNN. They are still a real news organization. Fox has sold its soul to the GOP. To deny it is to deny reality.

I would say an Obama statement apologizing for his insults to the fine Fox News network (the way several Republican congressmen apologized to Rush Limbaugh) would constitute Fox News “coming out on top.” You have to admit, it's more likely than the reverse.

I'm glad to see that Faux News has finally dropped the preposterous pretense of being anything other than the propaganda arm of the far right.
A clear admission that they are engaged in an ideological/political battle with the administration.

Agree with Mr. Weigel – what DOES come out on top mean?

I didn't know that President Obama was in some competition with an opposition propaganda network. To be in competition, you need to be in the same league …. and Fox – the whole lot of 'em …. they are simply not in President Obama's league. They'd have to grow up, become well-informed, and care about more than themselves to even think to enter the competition
