Fox News Poll: Fox Will Defeat the White House
Friday, October 16, 2009 at 4:48 pm
This is just a … strange question from the new Fox News poll:

What does “on top” mean? I can’t figure it out. Do 65 percent of independents think that President Obama will resign and hand his office to Chris Wallace?

I guess it means that the White House will not end up at the top of cable news stations in ratings, maybe? It would be difficult to do, since they are the executive branch of the United States government and not a TV station.
Who will come out on top, a camel or a box of cigars?

You wrote “65 percent of independents.”
Should be “65 percent of Republicans.”

Idle thought:
When will Fox News register as a PAC?

Might as well have asked “which news is more fair and balanced?” or “Obama: lying Communist or Communist liar?”
Fox needs to work on their push polls.

Agree with Mr. Weigel – what DOES come out on top mean?
I didn't know that President Obama was in some competition with an opposition propaganda network. To be in competition, you need to be in the same league …. and Fox – the whole lot of 'em …. they are simply not in President Obama's league. They'd have to grow up, become well-informed, and care about more than themselves to even think to enter the competition

I'm glad to see that Faux News has finally dropped the preposterous pretense of being anything other than the propaganda arm of the far right.
A clear admission that they are engaged in an ideological/political battle with the administration.
Such refreshing candor

I would say an Obama statement apologizing for his insults to the fine Fox News network (the way several Republican congressmen apologized to Rush Limbaugh) would constitute Fox News “coming out on top.” You have to admit, it's more likely than the reverse.

FOX News is a bottom not a top.
And they don't even have a “safe word.”
That's just plain risky behavior no matter how you cut it.

I think Obama is right. Anyone who watches Fox for a day would know it is an arm of the GOP. It has been almost since its beginning. It makes them a profit among the right wingers who watch religiously. That is about 35 % of this country who watch such vile things being said day after day. The hateful speech is meaningful to them. But I feel sorry for them for they get only one side of the story. MSNBC is tilted somewhat to the left but not so boldly as Fox is to the right. For pure news I go to CNN. They are still a real news organization. Fox has sold its soul to the GOP. To deny it is to deny reality.
