As a resident of the one party state of California, I gladly contributed to Rand Paul. Ron Paul was my horse in the last presidential election, even as a write in for the general election. It never entered my mind that I might be throwing my vote away. For me throwing your vote away is voting for any Democrat and 99% of the Republicans. It seems neither has any intention of adhering to the Constitution.

Raising money is a nessisary evil in a campaign. If it gets the establishment to pay attention then good enough. Yeah, Grayson does probably poll better right now because the election season hasnt even started. Grayson is a professional politician looking to make a career and Rand Paul is a private business owning citizen that is looking to turn this sinking ship called the Republican party around. (Rand also belives in term limits for senators) Lets all be grateful we dont have the same choices coming this next election. Look at Rand and his ideas, he wont have a problem facing the dems.

Excuse me, sir. But those so-called corrupt, bloated, grossly inefficient bureaucracies happen to be the same institutions that brought us such things as cap-and-trade, the Bush bailout, the Obama stimulus, federal control over Kentucky schools through No Child Left Behind, and Medicare part D, which is about tied with Social Security as making up the largest portion of our federal government's nearly $100 trillion future liabilities. If it weren't for moderate Republicans like Grayson, we never would have gotten any of those things. Go ahead, vote for Rand Paul if you want, but don't come blaming us moderate Republicans when you end up stuck with too much freedom without having those bureaucracies hundreds of miles away managing their lives for them because Congress starts limiting its actions to those powers enumerated in that archaic Constitution of yours.

I would posit nearly the opposite: That “most Kentuckians” have little interest in giving the hard earned fruits of their labor to corrupt, bloated, and grossly inefficient bureaucracies to waste on corporatism and cronyism. Rand Paul will be a godsend to the hard working people of Kentucky and the state will be an example for the other 49 states to follow.

The thing that's going to kill Rand Paul is his history as an activist fighting for lower taxes. Most Kentuckians know that most of what the government does is great, and the government needs more tax revenue so it can't spend more–the current federal budget isn't nearly big enough. That's why in the end they'll vote for Grayson. He's just the kind of moderate Republican we need. He's a career politician with a long history of working to make the government do more, not less. And if you look at the support he has from high up in the Republican establishment, it reads like a who's who list of great tax-and-spend moderates. Trey Grayson will represent Kentucky with the kind of bipartisan spirit we need. If only there were more Republicans like him, Obama wouldn't have so much trouble getting his agenda through Congress.

This is confusing. The amount you give for Rand Paul, which you say is from the first quarter, is actually his total amount raised over both the second and third quarters. Rand's second quarter amount was $111,000, and his third quarter amount was a little over $1,000,000. But the amount you give for Grayson is just what he got in the second quarter. His third quarter earnings have not yet been revealed.
