It would be nice to have a two party democracy. Even though the Palin supporters have some good ideas it is just not enough. At the moment the Republican Party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, is teetering on the brink of becoming a lunatic fringe party and driving out sensible pragmatic people. That's quite a change. The party that opposed “bully Brooks” has become the party of “bully Brooks”.

As citizens we lose out, since we don't to get to vote on two sensible candidates, but a sensible candidate and a loony candidate. (Shades of Monty Python) I imagine it will all sort itself out, but while Sarah Palin may well be a MILF that's neither a necessary or sufficient condition to be President. She's just not very bright. Todd has got the brains and grit in the family and Sarah runs for office: Go figure. “I'll retire to Bedlam.”

Finn, taha, my fear is that you are both correct. Sarah Palin is the best the Republican machine is able to produce, and it is possible that she is an electable candidate.

Steve Schmidt was not allowed to run the campaign, as the RNC and others on the sidelines (i.e. Wm. Kristol) were second guessing and sowing dissension through all media outlets. Party faithful are the biggest offenders in tearing their party to pieces; taha still uses the derogatory term RINO.Mr. Schmidt is responsible for the outcome, but after the party hired him to herd cats, they added more cats. A hopeless venture. He is lucky to have survived.

Steve Schmidt suffers virtually zero credibility. Schmidt displays behavior of a jealous and vindictive child spreading school yard bully gossip. His handling of internal affairs of the McCain presidential campaign reflect Schmidt is not the brightest color in the crayon box.

Steve Schmidt, long back I dismissed him as a blowhard rumor mongerer. He is an ignorant git.

David Weigel comments, "Did McCain boost Rep. Mark Kirk...."

Mark Kirk is a well known "Republican In Name Only" (RINO) who is under siege by a large grassroots effort to prevent Kirk from taking an elected office. Same is true of McCain. Down in Arizona a similar grassroots effort is moving forward to have McCain voted out of office for his being a RINO like Kirk.

Schmidt, McCain, Kirk, those boys remind me of the Three Stooges; right funny boys.

Sarah Palin is extremely popular, enjoys a large number of dedicated supporters, is expanding her base of power and is emerging as a true and sincere Republican. In comparison to both McCain and Kirk, darling Sarah would whip both their butts easily during any election.

Rather ironic, the more Schmidt and other failed campaign types rag on Palin, the more our mainstream media rags on Palin, the more popular and powerful she becomes.

What amazes me is, that people, SMART PEOPLE still think she is going to end up in the BIG chair. Are the Republicans try to set NEW lows for the oval office? After George W' Bush. I think they would be a lot more careful to whom the select as their candidate. As a Democrat, I would love to see Sarah Palin's name on the republican ticket (first or last) as many times as they want to run her. But I am utterly dumbfounded that republicans think so too.
