You can't collect Social Security the "the minute they touch US soil".

Immigrants have to pay into the system and gain sufficient credits just like the rest of us.

Since you are limited to gaining a maximum of 4 credits per year (regardless of how much one earns) and you need a minimum of 40 credits to collect retirement benefits, an immigrant would have to work at least 10 years to gain those benefits.

If you are going to post an opinion at least back it up with facts.

Even legal immigrants should not get federal subsidies the minute they touch US soil. It is unfair to native-born Americans who have paid taxes to support our social services all their lives. Why, for instance, should a legal immigrant's grandmother get to collect Social Security immediately? I have paid into the SS system for 30 years and I still have 18 more years to go before I can collect. Why should someone's grandma who never paid anything at all start collecting immediately? The Kyl proposal was reasonable as well as showed a rare sense of protectiveness toward the interests of native-born Americans (which we rarely see from our “representatives.”)

You can't have open borders and a welfare state. We are bankrupt and will become even more bankrupt with “representatives” like this. +

Why don't you read the article before spouting off. The fact that you go off ranting at illegal aliens when the article is about legal residents, just makes you look odious and ignorant.

Perhaps we should instigate some reverse immigration policies in the USA. We could export people whose minds have shrivelled up and stopped working from watching too many TV pundits (such as yourself). I hear North Korea is willing to take all of them for a nominal fee ;)
