This is typical of the way McCain tries to slip these punches: he dismisses his critics without addressing the specific actions of his that they're criticizing. For example, after he read a piece in the white-separatist magazine American Renaissance that touted white-supremacist Christian theology, he sent in a letter to the editor that offered his "warm congratulations" to the author. The piece praised Christian pastors who supported slavery, segregation, and apartheid. It said "Biblical" Christianity is on the side of the "racialists." It's pretty unpleasant to contemplate what motivated McCain's atta-boy to the author, and that makes it seem "altogether natural" when he doesn't attempt any explanation.

So much rich material in such a short article:
“It was (Palin's) idea to write Donkey Cons -she asked me to help her because I'm knowledgable about political history”—and she's knowledgable about video games

“She gave me a wink and a nod, little knowing that she was speaking to an agent of the Vlaams Belang”—as if Palin had ever heard of the obscure Flemish racists simply because she happens to share their intolerance and jingoism

and finally:”it's a shame the internet had empowered a lot of third-rate morons who think their journalists”—-the punchline which writes itself…
