Summary of the Boxer-Kerry Cap-and-Trade Bill

Following the rollout of the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act this morning, lead sponsor Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) office sends out a summary of the bill. The provisions laid out here confirm the outlines of the bill leaked to reporters in advance of today’s press conference.

Obama budget director Peter Orszag previously estimated that a 15 percent reduction in emissions would cause the average American family to pay $1,300 in additional utility costs per year. The National Association of Manufacturers is predicting a loss of 3 to 4 million jobs under cap and trade, as businesses escape its costs by accelerating the shipping of jobs overseas. Doesn’t sound like something we need at all!
