Yeah, doesn't the Hyde Amendment prevent that? A quick and dirty Google search shows that the only people claiming otherwise are Tony Perkins and various anti-abortion groups. Abortions will be available, just not paid for with taxpayer money.
But, then again, what isn't the Dem leadership/White House willing to compromise to get Snowe's vote on something?

This stance, or lack thereof, taken by Obama on federally funded abortion is simply policy suicide.

Abortion is hot topic for over thirty years, a hot topic since Roe vs. Wade and the Hyde Amendment. Savvy politicians know to carefully tap dance around this issue of abortion.

However, a national health care policy forces direct confrontation of our abortion issue. Obama is attempting to tap dance around this abortion issue when he should not. Obama must confront this issue, must assume a clear stance either against funding abortion or in favor of funding abortion.

In essence, this refusal by Obama to be exceptionally clear on abortion funding is another nail in the coffin of a national health care policy; Obama is defeating his own efforts.

Those remarks by Trent Franks on abortion are simply attention getting rhetoric. This is acceptable.

Obama not setting a clear policy on abortion funding is unacceptable. His current vague stance on abortion highlights Obama the politician is naive, is inexperienced and is not qualified to be our president; Obama is shooting himself in a foot, he is his own worst political enemy.

Obama has doomed his own health care policy to certain failure through his constant waffling and slippery semantics. His is becoming a failed presidency, a one term presidency.

No, the Hyde amendment does not apply to the Obama health care policy. The Hyde amendment only applies to funding through the yearly Labor, Health and Human Services (LHHS) appropriations bill.

Obama announced to America, in part, “…no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions….” Obama was lying to America and continues to lie to America. This “Obama-care” plan does include funding for abortion through backdoor means. Be sure you readers note Obama is lying to America; Obama has no credibility.

Evidence of his lying is found in defeated amendments. Last I checked, four Senate level amendments to prohibit federal funding of abortions in the health care bill were defeated by Democrats and six similar House level amendments were defeated by Democrats. More amendments to forbid funds for abortion might be coming up for vote. Those amendments will be voted down by Democrats.

This defeat of amendments to include specific wording to forbid federal funding for abortions is very clear hard evidence Obama and Democrats intend to federally fund abortions.

The Hyde amendment does not apply to current health care bills under consideration. Obama and Democrats are lying about no federal funding for abortions. Obama and Democrats cannot be trusted to tell America the truth.

Currently, 51% of Americans polled are against federal funding for “elective” abortions. Equally clear as these lies being told to America is Obama and Democrats are ignoring the will of our peoples. This is a symptom of socialism.
