Frankly, what difference does it make? Take 'em all and turn 'em loose in Times Square. The net effect would be minimal. These are a few hundred, angry, but unorganized and out of touch potential troublemakers. So what? There are several MILLION more who are just as angry at us, more in touch with current events, and in better position to volunteer with terrorist organizations who will train them to harm us, so what's a few hundred more?

Two points, here:
1) What CHICKENS the right wing nuts are. Why are they so worried that our max security prisons can't hold people? We have just completed EIGHT LONG YEARS of THEIR favorite administration, an administration that had EIGHT LONG YEARS to make those prisons secure! What a FAILURE of the BUSH Administration to leave our prisons INSECURE (if they can't hold these people)!
2) Frankly, what difference does it make? Take 'em all and turn 'em loose in Times Square. The net effect would be minimal. These are a few hundred, angry, but unorganized and out of touch potential troublemakers. So what? Typical right wing nut crap.

The place needs to be closed, and the Obama Administration was right in making a commitment to close it.

It may not be able to meet its self-imposed deadline to do so. I agree with McCain in that it would have been nice to have had an implementable plan in place so a realistic deadline could be determined from the beginning. However, I agree with the comments above that having a deadline is crucial for successful completion of this effort. If the Administration was too optimistic, so be it, it's not the end of the world. Let's keep moving and get the job done.

I agree with the generals that this detention center (a.k.a. concentration camp) has done huge damage to our strategic political and military interests.

What a MESS! And brought to you by the Bush Administration, people who were trying to play legal games in order to dodge the law, ours, as well as international law.

At least Obama is trying to clean it up.

I think my favorite part of this story is the depths of sleaze the Republicans are willing to stoop to put a wobbly spin on this issue: "Look, Obama's gonna ship terrorists to your little community in Bumfuck Kansas and then, he'll either release them or domicile them in a halfway home bunking with battered wives."

No wonder they call themselves 'independents' now--Who would admit they're one of these scumbags?
