The Birthermercial

Justin Elliot has the video and story behind LivePrayer.com’s infomercial “Where Was President Obama Born?”

Besides being a forum for prayer requests, LivePrayer.com features the Birther infomercial and a “False Hope” program advertised with a picture of Obama crudely photoshopped next to Hitler. [Christian minister and infomercial host Bill] Keller has called Islam a “false religion that follows a false god that will lead them to eternal condemnation.”

In the infomercial, Keller promises late-night viewers a “special look at where Barack Hussein Obama was really born.”

“Today, you could join hundreds of thousands of other Americans and force President Obama to produce his birth certificate [*foreboding string music*].”

Read the whole thing.

Birtherism has now escalated from a loopy fringe belief to a concerted and sorta-well-funded effort to undermine and overthrow the US government.

We mustn't forget that birtherism is not merely a conspiracy theory, but a denial movement. A conspiracy theory is something people believe; a denial movement is something that people promote, often with the explicit goal of disinformation.

Frome the TPM article:

One of the men behind the infomercial is attorney Gary Kreep

Nice.

(As a side note, it's worth noting that Kreep is currently engaged in an intra-movement feud with the pioneering Birther attorney Orly Taitz.)

The “anti-birthers” are implicitly claiming that the MSM has told them the truth about this issue. So, in an attempt to lift this page above the cute level, let me point out that CNN's president and their researchers got a basic, easy-to-understand, cut-and-dried fact about this issue wrong. And, here's an example of CNN and the NYT trying to mislead you about the basic, easy-to-understand, cut-and-dried fact of this issue.

Now, just because CNN got something wrong and tried to deceive their viewers doesn't mean that BHO was born on Mars. However, it does mean that you should evaluate what you've been told about this issue rather than being a “Faither”.

After all, why stay and do your job when someone else can do it for you? Everyone knows that all of the difficult decisions are made from the internets. Oh, wait…I guess you just misspelled “narcissist.” Luckily both words fit Princess Sarah perfectly, even if one of them is made up.

Yes, that is true about a narcissist. They care only about themselves and are more willing to spread lies about other people. They are so obsessed with the attention that they get that they refuse to recognize the facts. This fits Orly Taitz clearly. However, Justin Elliot seems to have found a great opportunity to take advantage of bithers disillusions. “A sucker is born every minute.” When people wake up and realize that they are being deceived the birther movement will die.

Maybe I have misunderstood the cause of the controversy. I shared this on the Colorado Independent, transferred here for your enjoyment

It is a true fact that extraterrestrials created an alien-earthling hybrid in their space station. The name Barak Obama translates into 'Destroyer of Earth', they added the Earth name 'Hussein' in an effort to lull the human population into a warm sense of contentment and complacency. Now that President Obama holds the highest office in the land, ACORN will begin shipping earthlings to the alien planet where we will be chrome plated and used as hood ornaments. I will post proof as soon as I create the websites.

I get it! I mistakenly employed my public school education that emphasized fact-based thinking and logic. This outmoded view has been replaced by my newfound ability to make stuff up. I feel righteous anger!

Christianity teaches peace, it doesn't teach to convert or kill non-believers, and its leaders condemn wrong-doing when it occurs.

I'll add for you as an atheist.

It's consistent with the 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics in explaining the existence of everything (unlike natural explanations).

It predicted relativity (4000 yrs before Einstein) by stating that all time and space had a beginning and ending and were created out of nothing (consistent with big bang cosmology).

It answers the question, “How can everything occur from nothing?”

It answers the question of, “How did the inorganic become life?”

It answers the question about how the Cambrian explosion occurred (and numerous other speciation events).

It answers the questions about the lack of transitional forms between species in the fossil record.

I could go on. Explanations for those issues are all unknown. If you don't recognize the enormity of the issues I mentioned, you don't know much about science. Logic tells me there IS A GOD.

Do you believe something can come from nothing?

A vocabulary of polysyllables does not confer intelligence or make one smart. Making a statement (or positing a hypothesis) followed by supporting facts with respected sources is the basis for intellectual discourse.
Your statements, including “It answers the questions about the lack of transitional forms between species in the fossil record”, and “Your comment proved my point” are not backed up with facts, therefore they are not arguable points; they are statements of opinion. Since one cannot argue these opinion points using facts, you have created a self-fulfilling prophesy of superior intellect.
As for resorting to name calling, I did not think that “Sir”, and “Cap'n Steve” were unacceptable. My background uses these as terms of respect. In the future I shall attempt to refrain from using these words when addressing you directly.

Obots should stop lying. The short-form COLB does not prove where Dingle Barry was born. There are several ways to have a certificate amended (a new birth certificate is issued). He could have been adopted from a foreign country and still have a COLB that says Hawaii. That’s why he needs to release his long-form and other supporting documents. Go to the site to see all of the ways to amend. The following is from their website (note the state's own url is named. . .”newbirthcert”).

Who is Eligible to Apply for an Amended Certificate of Birth?

As provided by law (HRS §§338-17.7, 338-20.5), the following persons may apply for an amended certificate of birth:

• A person born in a foreign country who has been legally adopted in the State of Hawaii.

captainsteve

You are wrong again. The amendment process applies to the “””CERTIFICATE””” of birth (long-form). There is no indication that it applies ti the short-form “”"certification”"” of birth. The purpose of the short form is to have a paper that shows Hawaiian citizenship. It would be show Hawaii regardless of birth location.

Obama NEEDS TO SHOW HIS LONG-FORM B/C AND OTHER VITAL RECORDS!

§338-20.5 Adoption; foreign born persons. (a) The department of health shall establish a Hawaii certificate of birth for a person born in a foreign country and for whom a final decree of adoption has been entered in a court of competent jurisdiction in Hawaii, when it receives the following:
(1) A properly certified copy of the adoption decree, or certified abstract thereof on a form approved by the department; and
(2) A copy of any investigatory report and recommendation which may have been prepared by the director of social services; and
(3) A report on a form to be approved by the department of health setting forth the following:
(A) Date of assumption of custody;
(B) Sex;
(C) Color or race;
(D) Approximate age of child;
(E) Name and address of the person or persons adopting said child;
(F) Name given to child by adoptive parent or parents;
(G) True or probable country of birth.
The true or probable country of birth shall be known as the place of birth, and the date of birth shall be determined by approximation. This report shall constitute an original certificate of birth; and

Some people should take time to think about what they are writing. Honestly, Steve you just don't realize that your comments are logically disjoint. Or are there two of you.

It is obvious to assume that you are a Christian, as you argue that “Christianity teaches peace, it doesn't teach to convert or kill non-believers.”

However you earlier argued that “Islam is a false religion (more like cult) that follows a false god.”

Then you devolve in what seems to be a tirade against Atheist. I say Atheist, as you attempt to claim someone is an Atheist before showing your lack of understanding of physics or biology.

What relevance does this have? You argued that Christianity doesn't teach that non-believers should be converted.

However, through you comments you are engaging in a feeble attempt to the conversion of non-believers.

Honestly, why would you call “Islam is a false religion” if you don't want to convert people who follow Islam to Christianity?

Why would you attempt to discredit science if you don't want to convert people from Atheism to Christianity?

By telling people that their religion is wrong is an attempt to convert them to your religion.

By telling people what they understand about science is a religion view and is wrong; is an attempt to convert them to your religion.

I have to laugh at your attempt to engage in something that you claim Christianity doesn't teach.

Taitz doesn't seem too bright. Her case was dismissed, and her client has been sent to serve her deployment. It is really funny that she wrote “This Motion to Withdraw as Counsel will in no way delay the proceedings.” All the judge asked is why he shouldn't fine her $10,000 or am I wrong.

On the COLB the actually place of birth is include. Also, it has been authenticated and verified as being stored in Hawaii. Honestly, If he wasn't born in Hawaii it wouldn't say “Honolulu, Oahu, Honolulu” on it. It would say something else. You have provided legal facts, but nothing that support your argument.

Unless you have any evidence to support your position, you should stop embarrassing yourself.

There are numerous ways that the online COLB could show Hawaii even though he wasn't born there. We ned to see the long-form.

The state has made numerous statements, some contradictory. A organized effort is underway to cut through the fog they intentionally created.

You're about as clueless as that bottle-blonde retard Orly Taitz. Maybe you should do what she does and start calling yourself a lawyer. Birfers don't know anything about the law, but that didn't stop your fearless leader and you shouldn't let it stop you either.

The judge granted her motion to be removed as the attorny for Rhodes, but he noted that: “Whether Plaintiff expressly authorized counsel to file the motion for reconsideration is irrelevant to the Court's determination of whether the filing was legally frivolous.” In other words, Orly and Orly alone is responsible for the filing.

The birth certificate states “Honolulu, Oahu, Honolulu” as the birth place. This document has been proven and confirm to be authentic. Now, with that consider. How can the birth certificate show Hawaii even though that wasn't the birth place.

The state has made consistent statements that the document is authentic.

“The truth will be known sooner than later.” Yes, the truth is birthers are more willing to spread likes that accept the truth. The are more willing to engage in deceptions that look at the facts. The truth is known now.

CaptianSteve, you only got one vote during the election. Just because your candidate lost doesn't mean that you can made silly requests.

Here is a logical twist according to your strange logic. It is those who voted for the winning candidate who are his or her employer. The reality is a majority of Americans are satisfied that both presidential and vice-presidential candidates met the constitution requirement for each office.

The only lack of transparency is birthers closing there eyes to the facts, and closing their minds to the fact that their arguments are just … stupid.

So now he's not just a scary mooslim, he's evil too? You birfers are getting more deranged by the day and I couldn't be happier. Part of me is sad because the day will eventually come when you guys become to stupid to make fun of. And I won't even point out the massive hypocrisy in your complaining about Obama's “mean-spirited cultic” followers in the same breath that you claim Obama is “evil and must be brought down by any means necessary.” Now THAT'S mean-spirited.

Oh wait…I just did. My bad.

Of course, since the root of birferism is racism (and stupidity, ignorance, and delusion) it's only fitting that a birfer would know when someone is being mean-spirited. It's only fair because birfers have constantly shown us that they don't know much else.

And typing in all caps? I thought we discussed this. To quote Ronnie Raygun, “there you go again.” It's bad enough that no sane person takes the birfers seriously, but you have to resort to screaming over the internet because you don't have any evidence to back up any of the stupid nonsense that is the birfer movement. If not for your fearless leader's constant stupidity, that would be the saddest thing of all.

Okay, you can stop drooling now.

No Captain Steve, you and your birther brethren who can't be trusted. There are two sides to this issue.

One side has produced evidence to demonstrate their eligibility. This evidence has been supported by various American government officials, and has been independently authenticated. Additional, supporting material has also been found.

The other side has only made suggesting on what they believe. They haven't produced any evidence to support their position. Also, they have been eager to accept obvious forgeries to support their position. Not one forgery, but three.

To be honest if the birthers had anything to support their position they would have produced it already. Also, do birthers honestly believe that 3 experienced politicians would have allowed someone who doesn't meet the constitution requirements defeat them.

Dishonestly, doesn't become the birthers, especially when logic show them to be fools.

To be honest if birthers weren't so lazy they could take less time that it took RedGraham to write their comment to find the proof they need.

The only asterisk in American history book would be a comment “America returned to the people who believe in democracy, with the humiliation and quick dissipation of the birther movement.”

Anyways, being logically disjoint from reality is a natural trait of birthers. And, yes the world thinks the birthers are stupid.

Anteni
Comment posted October 1, 2009 @ 10:58 am

Yes, many American believed that Iraq had WMD. However, many didn't believe it since no evidence was produced to support that position. Many remember being promised that the weaponds would be found. American and her allies in Iraq searched for many month finding nothing. Hmmm, what does that resemble. Hmmm, making fake claims and not being able to find anything even though the evidence suggest a different conclusion.

The previous administration viewed Iraq as the enemy. Hmmm, there is something that this resembles. Claims that something immediate must be done.

Like honestly, birthers can never tell how logically disjoint their arguments are. CaptianSteve, the example of WMD further discredits the birther movement. The majority of the world believed that their were no WMD, because independent organizations claimed they didn't exist. The majority of the world believes that the current president of America meets the legal requirement, because various organizations claimed that it is authentic and provided supporting evidence.

Birthers believe the president is their enemy, so they make of the facts just like those who attempt to spread the idea Iraq had WMD.

Yes, one vote during the election. However, yours and other birthers behavior is as if you believe that you can change the election results by spreading lies. Your candidate lost the election accept that facts. Birthers like you would spend their time better is finding ways of helping your candidate in the mid-terms or preparing for the next election cycle.

He said he barely knew William Ayers the domestic terrorist and pentagon bomber.

He said he wouldn’t prosecute the CIA agents re detainee treatment.

He would keep a balanced budget.

No deficit spending.

He would be bi-partisan.

Didn’t really know much about ACORN.

Captain Steve. We know that you are a lair so why do you bother continuing to post nonsensical comments. See the major problem the birther movement has is that they have to digress from their argument in a feeble attempt to distract people from the fact that they have no facts for their illogical arguments.

He never said “He was a moderate and would govern from the center.”

He said he would raise taxes for the rich (those make 100,000's dollars).

It was the Iraq government that put in place laws that restricted foreign military in Iraq during Bush's administration.

There has been an objection from most US senators to the presidents plan closure of Gitmo and transfer of those prisoners to federal prisons.

It is very hard to keep a balanced budget when the previous president didn't include the financing of both wars in the budget.

Yes, he has been bi-partisan. The problem is republicans refuse to work with the Democratics in both the house and senate.

There is no plan for government take over of health-care, only a public option giving people more choice.

You are an embarrassment. Stop making up facts. It is funny that the image you choose clearly indicates what kind of person you are.

P.S. Yes everything that you mentioned was false, but why should I bother debunking all of them.

As Orly Taitz sinks deeper down the “rabbit hole,” it seems that birthers have found a hobby that can damage their ability to construct logical arguments. Take captiansteve for example, they consistently present irrelevant comments distracting from the core of the birthers disillusion.

One thing that has to be noted is that birthers engage in a practice call word-play. This is where they look at a phrase and claim its mean relates only to those specific words. The most well known instance is 'certificate of live birth', by claiming the previous phrase doesn't represent birth certificate.

captainsteve's idol Leo Donofrio engages in the same behavior.

There is a lot of misinformation on the internet and it is important to do honest unbiased research.

Take for example the term “duly nominated.” Within the context of a ballot nomination has a specific meaning, which can not be ignored.

Birthers don't understand that people believe that they are crazy for several reasons. They ignore facts. They insists on their exact wording. They easily accept distortions of facts. They easily accept fake documents without questioning its validity. When confronted they change to argument without addressing the issues. They extend their conspiracy arguments to any official who rebuts their arguments. They make outlandish requests, while not providing anything to support their position. They quote legal opinion either through quote mining or a misunderstanding of the ruling.

However, the biggest reason is that their arguments just don't make any sense.

Anteni
Comment posted October 5, 2009 @ 2:59 am

It is easy to tell a liar isn't captiansteve. Continually proclaiming something doesn't automatically make it true. Birthers continue to provide evidence that in no way supports their position, but claim it does. What is quite amusing is that the information that you have provided contradicts your position.

The reason most of us believe that birthers are morons is that they have not been able to provide any proof that supports their position. Instead they go on weird tangents.

Actually, the correct text reads ” (b) The department shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof.” We don't need to be force feed misrepresentations by the birther movement. It is known that birthers only accept facts when convenient, and disregard any proof that undermines their position. For those who want the facts please read the Hawaii Revised Statute 338-18 Disclosure of records (a) and (b).

Ҥ338-18 Disclosure of records. (a) To protect the integrity of vital statistics records, to ensure their proper use, and to ensure the efficient and proper administration of the vital statistics system, it shall be unlawful for any person to permit inspection of, or to disclose information contained in vital statistics records, or to copy or issue a copy of all or part of any such record, except as authorized by this part or by rules adopted by the department of health.

(b) The department shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record. The following persons shall be considered to have a direct and tangible interest in a public health statistics record:”

It is suggested that those who are really interested to do the research on their own to confirm this information.

When someone misrepresents that facts it is hard to accept any information that they present later a genuine.

That's the wrong section of the statute douche-bag. But you can redeem yourself by watching SNL.

You should know about liars, Obama! Thx for the reminder. I added the lie d'jour to the list.

Should we trust Obama and his online short-form B/C when he has hidden all his other documentation and long-form B/C, and lied about everything else? Here's a few of his lies off the top of my head.

He said:

He was a moderate and would govern from the center.

No new taxes on anyone making less than $250K.

Cap-N-Trade would on cost the amount of a postage stamp per day.

No more Washington as usual.

No earmarks.

No lobbyists in Cabinet.

He would keep track of the bailout money.

No free health-care for illegals.

No government funding for abortion.

Health-care debate to be broadcast on C-Span.

No programs enacted without having the funding (Pay-Go).

All new bills to be available for public review.

Didn't want to run car company.

Doctors remove kids tonsils just to make more money.

Enact policies to make world safer.

He would not desert Israel.

He would get out of Iraq.

He would close Gitmo.

He would do whatever it took to win in Afghanistan.

He would get Bin Laden.

Wouldn't allow government funds to pay for abortions.

Would stop illegal immigration.

No government takeover of health-care.

He would represent ALL Americans.

He also said he was born in Hawaii. Hmmm

Thanks, but I think it’s time to see the LONG-FORM birth certificate, and other records!!!!

Anyone with a computer or any access to Hawaii's laws can find the information that has been presented. It is up to them to search on this statute to determine who is fabricating the truth.

I invite anyone to do their own search or to look at the actual section. All they have to do is visit the government of Hawaii's site to determine how the exact text reads.

It is hard to believe that a government agency would give the public more rights over the privacy of an individual.

A video on Youtube is no way represent the Government of Hawaii. Youtube is a service owned by Google, which is common knowledge.

Very interesting distorting of the truth. However, none of it proves that the president is not a natural born citizen of America. As stated before birthers go on weird tangents when they know that they have no argument.

No-earmarks. Isn't this what senator place in bills for their home state. What does this have to do with the president?

A clarification the information that was provided stating 338-18 (d) is meaningless without considering the 338-18 (a) to (c). Also, stating 338-18(d) doesn't support the position attempting to present since it ignore both section (a) and (b) which was previously presented.

It is viewed that the complain of birthers is that the vital information can't be released. Section (d) explicitly refers to the index and type of information. The funny thing is that in no why does the access of this information support the position of the birthers in an manner, and only contradictions their position.

Since, birthers continue to engage in their deception, the full statue 338-18 will be considered.

It looks like Miss Tickly broke the code on the COLB. The key is in the wording in the lower left hand corner of Obama’s COLB where is says, “Date Filed by Registrar August 8, 1961. It was “filed” but never certified.

It should say date “Accepted,” as in the example in the following link.
http://nobarack08.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/a…
The word “filed” means the same as the date the certificate was “applied for.” The link has more info.

Read for yourself, and pass on as appropriate.

It is strange that some birthers continue to throw-out nonsense words, with the hope that they would mean anything.

Only the courts can decide who is guilty of fraud. However, the truth must be known that the birther queen has been found to engage in frivolous lawsuits.

Yes that is correct. Anyone can do the search on their on and determine the facts. Their is nothing wrong with that. It is called independent though and objective validation of the facts. This is something that the “Birthermericial” and other birther deceptions attempt to discourage.

If birthers had anything to support their position they would make the same proclamation. However, we both know none exist.

You are a moron. A total moron. “Filed” means to be placed in a file, into records, or storage after the information has been verified. It doesn't mean “applied for.” Please, stop playing around with English it is starting to get embarrassing.

“Accepted” generally, refers to a review process had occurred.

However, neither terms supports birthers disillusioned.

Alan Keyes summed it up when he said we must remove the usurper Obama “or the United States will cease to exist.”

Alan Keyes is just a sour loser. He couldn't beat Obama for the Senate in Illinois in 2004. He has repeatedly ran unsuccessfully for the GOP president nominee, and for various Senate seats. He seems more upset that Barak Obama became the first African American president. Keyes sees a man who is more politically successful than him, and hides behind words to show his jealousy.

How can a man who hasn't held an elected of see how another man could cause a nation to “cease to exist.”

Mr. Keyes and other birthers need a reality check.

Why is it that former ambassador/twice-former presidential candidate/editorialist & former talkshow host Alan Keyes' courtcase in pursuit of discovery of the Obama's pertinent documents is not in the news? If it was some miniscule nonsense about Dan Quayle or W's Nat'l Guard service or Palin's daughter it would be frontpage. But here we are with a possibly fraudulent president & even the National Enquirer is muzzled.

“But here we are with a possibly fraudulent president & even the National Enquirer is muzzled.”

Muzzled??? This article is about a informercial that is pushing the exact idea that you are claiming is being discussed. I think you are looking for the word rebutted.

Possibly fraudulent??? See what birthers fail to accept that “this news topic” was address last year with the release of a birth certificate. Thus any claim that it is being ignored is false. Yes, the word is rebutted.

The obvious reason that none of the nonsense that is mentioned is not news is that everything has been proven to be genuine and authentic. The obvious question “What is the real reason that Keyes, Taitz and other are pursuing a legal dead end?”

Instead of starting from where you would like this to conclude, start from the facts. Then and only then will birthers realize that they are actually embarrassing themselves by not accepting the truth.

When I joined the United States Army I had to show my original long form birth certificate.
When I became a police officer I had to show my original long form birth certificate.
I didn't point Army officials to some website with a jpeg image of what “appears” to be a certification of live birth document. Which by the way, is NOT valid evidence in any court of law that I know of.
Additionally, I didn't hire Perkins Coie to fight release of said long form and I didn't send DOJ lawyers to do the same thing.
If every soldier has to provide the original bc then the Commander in Chief should follow the same rules. that is unless he has something to hide.
Obama is hiding something.
