I am a Christian, and I agree with what she SAID regarding marriage being between a man and a woman, but her life does not reflect the values she touts. How can one tout family values while enciting lust? Yes, topless shots, the bikini “fitness” parade in the competitions, etc., are most definitely not in line with the modesty also demanded by the Bible they are quoting.

In order to “leave marriage out of the equation” you either have to remove or extend all of the *legal* rights tied to marriage. This really isn't an issue of defining love. Regardless of what the zealotous religious might say (because I am religious) same-sex people can experience true love for one another — they are wired that way. This is an issue of the rights that are *tied* to marriage. I don't care what name you give it (though some do) the rights have to be equal. A civil union is NOT marriage in terms of the rights and protections granted to a couple. In fact in many cases it's not even a decent subset of those rights. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. People need to stop using a book to deny state and federal rights to two consenting human beings. Keep the state and religion separate. If your religion says “don't eat pork” then don't eat pork, don't try to get pork outlawed for everyone else because their religion or lack thereof may say eating pork is okay. I think the issue gays [might] have with Carrie's statement is that her “position” is supposed to represent “everyone” and her response should have been neutral. Even other contestants say they would have responded in a more sensitive manner. If you go in front of a crowd of pro-lifers and say “I think, no offense, everyone should be able to abort their children whenever” you might get shot. Obama chose to be conservative on his acknowledgement of the National Day of Prayer and right wingers and church thumpers expressed their vitriol and questioned his faith. He goes to church every week. So it's not like it's just something “gays” do. And then to defend her comments afterward as God told me to say it because Satan was tempting me… where was God when she CHOSE to pose nude or get breast implants? Most contestants use meat cutlets. She chose to get implants. Wherew was the zealotry then?

I never said you don't deserve rights, freedoms, peace and love. Just leave marriage out of the equation. Do you think any couples are going to get tax breaks these days? The economy is terrible and the taxes will be high for all. If you do not hate what is it? The gays hate Carrie because she said what she believed in. She answered the question truthfully and tried not to offend anyone else. Pray, pray, pray. Prayer will give you peace.

There is no hate from me. A disdain for ignorance, perhaps, but there is no hate. That is for the religious people who preach it under the false guise of gospel to propogate, not I. Saying that gay people do not deserve equal rights because “God told you to say that” as some kind of religious posterchild while having had breast implants (the body is a temple and she “mutilated” it forthe carnal desires of men) and nude photos is cherry-picking that hate perpetuated by those who use their hate to forward an agenda while choosing to ignore God's other mandates. 30 million dollas on Prop8 ads — how many poor people could have been fed with that money? I am ALL FOR returning marriage to a completely sacred institution. That's another way to solve the problem. No gov't sanctions. No tax breaks, no rights to property, etc. You can have a “civil union” and “marriage” if you want all of that. The churches can choose to deny gay people marriages because there would be separation of church and state. Go ahead and advocate that. See how far you get. Plenty of non-religious people get “married” for the rights and benefits. I bet you they wouldn't want those taken away. Now you see the position the gays are in and why they want legal recognition of their unions as EQUAL to the gov't provisions of marriage. There is no hate here. Not on my end.

I am so glad you know more than God. How you can twist the truth to satisfy your selfish whims. The whole world must change and love God above all things and than love their neighbor. You hate anyone that does not agree with you. Fine hate me, but please don't hate the creator. Marriage was, is, and always will be a "sacred" sacrament between a man and a woman. (Not a man made instituiton). Yes there are many evils in the world and we all must change. Everyone please pray the Rosary, love one another, go to church and love God above everything. See holylove.org, Ohio; it changed my life and gave me hope. We can all have peace, love and happiness and change the world. You may hate me for saying this, but always love and believe in God. God is the truth.

You know what would help solve that problem? Birth control pills, condoms, and education. Abortions come predominantly from unwanted pregnancy, target that and you reduce the likelihood that a pregnancy is unwanted. If there wasn't such a stigma against allowing their use and even BANS on getting contraceptives for women that want them, you'd automatically reduce abortion rates. Abstinence doesn't always work and it's not realistic to believe it does nor should you force your views down someone's throat.

As for “more rights from marriage” you honestly need to do some research. Marriage is not a sacreed institution “anymore.” You get money, reduced taxes, the ability to provide healthcare to your spouse, the ability to visit them in the hospital when they are sick, shared custody of children, inheritance and property rights… the list goes on. To say otherwise is top be completely ignorant of the world you live in.

You are right about heterosexuals having abortions. Sin is sin, and killing innocent babies is horrible. Those babies could change the world. Marriage is a Holy Sacrament of the Church. Loving, worshiping and obeying God is everyones purpose of life.
