Landrieu: I Probably Won’t Support a Public Option

Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 6:44 pm

The New Mexico Independent caught up with Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) at an event on health care today in Las Cruces, N.M., during which she reaffirmed her opposition to a government-run health insurance program to compete with private insurers.

Democrat Mary Landrieu of Louisiana said there would be “very limited opportunity, if any, for me to support a public option.”

“The reason is because I believe that we should do nothing that would undermine the private insurance market,” Landrieu said.

Landrieu also said she thinks the Senate will find the 60 votes needed to overcome a Republican filibuster of a health care reform bill that achieves President Obama’s goals, without a public option.

Do nothing? What the hell is that?

It's time for her to go. Louisiana is suffering because she wants Insurance Company $$ in her campaign fund. Shame on you Mary, shame!

Time to say “bye-bye”!

All signs had been pointing all along to her never agreeing to health insurance reform. So she protects the den of thieves. Insurance companies are only middlemen – who don't render any useful service, and then demand exorbitant profits for doing this nothing. Where do the profits come from? Turning claims down. How can any rational American support this corrupt system we've got? Certainly – congresspeople who get their campaign coffers filled by corporations, including insurance companies and their employees, have a reason to defend it – and Ms. Landrieu is making that abundantly clear. We won't clean up the huge mess this country is in until campaign finance reform is implemented.

Wow Mary you can look forward to being on Dancing With the Stars after the next election. Great going girl. I know you will be as absolutely disgusting as Tom Delay.

We have to put real Democrats in as opposition. The DNC should not be able to provide support to anyone not with the party on this one.
