Massachusetts Senate Candidate Casts Lonely Pro-ACORN Vote

The House of Representatives has followed the Senate’s lead and passed an amendment banning ACORN from receiving federal funds. There aren’t many surprises on the list of “no” votes — that is, Democrats who defended ACORN. But one standout is Rep. Mike Capuano (D-Mass.), the six-term incumbent from the most liberal district in Massachusetts (Obama beat McCain there by 71 points), who is also running to replace the late Ted Kennedy in a January 2010 special election.

If the ACORN backlash has a long tail, expect to hear about this as Capuano runs an underdog race against Martha Coakley, the state attorney general.
