Poll: Gov. Rick Perry Slumps in 2010 GOP Primary

In the Texas gubernatorial race, a new Rasmussen Reports survey of Texas Republicans finds Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas) falling slightly behind Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) for the first time this year. Hutchison leads 40-38; in the summer, Perry led by 10 points.

How is this happening despite Perry holding huge job approval numbers among GOP voters? One factor might be Debra Medina, a far-right Tea Party activist who entered the race last month on a 10th Amendment-centric state sovereignty platform. Perry has been making a strong appeal to Tea Party voters, and he can’t afford to lose too many of them to a spoiler.

Good. Texas needs a change from Perry. It needs a change from republicans actually, but Hutchison might be a better governor than secessionist Perry.

Debra Medina is a true conservative. She is exact what Texas and Texan's need. We have seen Perry's and Hutchinson's track record. Perry is a liar and Hutchinson is all Washington. We in Texas need someone that will look after our interests and protect the interests of our children. If you haven't heard anything about Debra Medina, then I strongly suggest you log on and turn on. Look out Rick…. we're coming hard and fast. DEBRA MEDINA – GOVERNOR of TEXAS!

I think it is interesting that you consider Medina as a spoiler for Perry. Many of us see Perry as the spoiler for Medina. Why is he running again anyway, except ego. In all his years in office he just recently learned about the 10th Amendment and the need to protect our borders. He doesn't care squat about property rights or he would not have tried to ramrod through the TTC. Same for parental right and his support for required vaccinations. But because he has money and name recontion he may be the spoiler for the Medina, which is a true grassroots campaign. Ordinary citizens asked her to run to represent our views. Debra Medina has a servants heart and is committed to uphold her oath of office to protect and defend the constitution.

Far right?? Sounds a little negative don't you think? I think “Most conservative in the gubernatorial race” is a better description. Perry and Hutchinson have proven over and over that they are only concerned with self interest. It isn't about Texans? Perry tells Texas we are recession proof and asks “what recession?” when he's lied about our surplus. A surplus funded by bond debt. We're in the red people. And KBH can't even take care of her job in Washington while running. As a Senator, your job is to vote as a representative of this state. Ron Paul was able to vote on every issue while conducting a presidential campaign. So yes. Self interest is the first and foremost concern of those two. But Debra Medina has done her homework and have shown over and over that her concern is TEXANS!

I think we'll be seeing Debra Medina rising in the polls as both Kay Bailout and Rick Goodhair attack each other childishly. Neither one of them will address the core issues, such as the fact that we will exceed our constitutionally mandated debt limit in the next year. What happens then? Debra Medina is the only one raising this issue, while Perry thinks everything is fine and there's no recession. Idiot.

Wow! Looks like that 3% may start skyrocketing with all the press she's getting lately.

I must confess that I talk to people almost daily who are starting to hear about her and really like what they hear.

It's time to retire a few long-time politicians and let some True Texans step up to the plate.

Looks like we're going to have a run-off next spring!

Calling Debra Medina a 'far right Tea Party activist” shows that you have not done your research. She has been involved in real local politics for a long time working for the people of her county. She has gone up against the Texas Republican Party for not following their own rules. She's been around for much longer than the recent Tea Parties.

Debra is the real deal for Texas, and someone that we need right now. She is a true conservative. If you look at all that Perry has done to our state (not for us), and the way that Kay has sold us out in Washington, It is clear that We Texans need Debra Medina.

Check her out, and give her as much of a glance as you have given Perry and Hutchison before you call her a spoiler. I am telling everyone I know about her, and support for her is growing rapidly.

By my count a two percentage point is not a slump. Need to get a new headline writer; somewhat exaggerated.

Thanks

If believing in the constitution and state sovereignty is “far right” then I guess Debra Medina is. Go Debra!!!

Kay Bailey Huchinson –Is a Moterate Reoublican,
Governor Rick Perry –Is Conservative Republican

People make mistakes along the way, sometimes in life we need to trust our gut feelings, make the choice, and hope and pray it was the right decision with the paper work in front of you, and the proof that people give you…
Yes it might of been the wrong decision, but it was backed by the evidence that was presented in front of you. That is why it is hard to be a leader, you get judged hard for the decisions you make..All I can say is let go and trust God..

Kay Bailey Hutchinson believes in abortion-and is Moderate Republican

http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Kay_Bailey_H…

Hutchison can be a moderate on some social issues such as abortion and stem cell research, but is a hard-line fiscal conservative who supported all of President George W. Bush’s tax cuts and more. One of her biggest issues in the Senate has been trying to overturn the “marriage penalty,” which causes some married couples to pay more taxes when filing jointly than they would if each person filed seperately.

Medina's no spoiler, she's going to win in March in November. Oh, wait, maybe she is a spoiler, she's going to spoil the chances of both Perry & Hutchinson to win the Republican Primary.
